Pin It Blog Hop

Pin cushions are one of those things that, for those who sew, are a required piece of equipment.  Not that I didn't spent many many years trying to prove that I "didn't need no pins"!   LOL!!  But like many before me, I succumbed to common sense. Not soon enough for my best friends mom, who was a seamstress. I remember her breaking out in a cold sweat just watching me sew!  She has passed now, so I will never know, but I can't help but wonder why she never said too much to me. You know what had to be going thru her head!

So thanks to "that" bit of common sense that took over, and the Kompletely Kookie Kristen for hosting this fun blog hop. If ya gotta have the tool, it should be just about as much fun as you can make it right???   LOL!!  Hat's off, or should I say "straight pin salute" to Madame Samm for leading the charge with her fabulous blog hop ideas...  We are gonna have the "best-est" pin cushions out there!  :-)

In Alaska last month, I saw a really fun pin cushion, in one of the quilt shops I visited... hummm      I had actually started a project at home, and it would make a great addition. Best yet, there was that blog hop I had signed up for!!!

 Remember the It's a Wrap, it's a bowl folks?

What a fun way to made a pin cushion.

It's really nothing more than 2 bowls glued together!

 

 

 

 While I was busy "wrapping", I thought another bowl might be appropriate.

 

              After all, one can never have enough places to keep supplies!

Now there was just enough fabric for one more project. It could be a bread basket... or just a fun little wall hanging with a little "moosie" sign on it!
                 Oh yea, the moosie won out in this house!   :-)

Regardless, it completed the on-som!

Mommy 'N Me

My special little Alaska baby, isn't a baby anymore...  :-(   In fact she turned 9 just last month. Where oh where does the time go?

On my quest of scrapbook quilting, I was about to surprise her mommy with this quilt a few years ago.

                                   They are both so special to me!

Again based on regular paper scrap booking ideas, but this time with a twist.
The incredibly talented Cindy Losekamp has come to the rescue and created a scrap booking design set for those of us with embroidery machines.  Loads of great frames and fun mini clip art designs to use too.  It's called Fabri-Scrapping.

Well, you see, I am busy working on some outrageous things for upcoming blog hops... and I sure don't want to spill the beans!  So to say.. For now, I'm just keeping you guessing!  LOL!!


 

MuskOx Love

                           Or was that song Muskrat Love???? 
                         It was from years ago, that's for sure!  :-)

Musk Ox or "Oomingmak" as the native Alaskans refer to them, are Ice Age animals that are well known for their "Qiviut" considered the finest wool in the world! 

 

 

I took this photo at the Musk Ox farm in Palmer Alaska.

They are some interesting animals, but this guy just caught my eye, as he was eyeing me!  It was destine to become a photo memory quiltie!

 

 

Especially once I stumbled on this gorgeous pattern for Musk Ox

More Christmas projects

While the HoHoHo blog hop is over, I did just finish up one more little project.

Actually I have been doing a little pattern testing for Sindy over at Fat Cat Patterns. 

I love these little guys, and chose to do them out of glow in the dark fabric. It's impossible, for me anyway, to get a photo of them glowing... but I can tell you, it sure is fun to see at night.

 This pattern comes in 2 sizes... a 36" which is what I chose, and a 48" one.
While it was designed to be a tree skirt, I filled in the center and make it a table topper. That smaller size is perfect for it! 

 

I imagine a wonderful glow dancing off them from a candle centerpiece.

With the smell of cinnamon whafting thru the air...

Oh, I can hardly wait for the holidays!

Chalk board paint

During our stamp on it blog hop, Green Carlson, posted the most adorable mug that you could write on. After emailing her, she lead me to Pintesest for more information.  I am so delighted with what I found.

 

 Just a plain ole cup and plate can turn any meal time into fun!  All you have to do is mask off the area you want to paint. Apply 2 coats, and let it sit for 24 hours.

Condition with a piece of chalk, by completely covering the painted area, and wipe off. Your ready to serve up a lot of fun for those little ones!

Imagine the possibilities.

My favorite is Eat Your Veggies, although probably not the kids more favorite!
LOL!!  Think of a special message from Gramma, words of encouragement from mom, or even a note to Santa on a plate full of cookies. This can be year round fun!

Hand wash only. So no dishwashers for these guys, but it's worth the fun!

FYI: I found these plates and cups, at where else but IKEA!  They are perfect!
