The Blog Hops Are Coming, The Blog Hops Are Coming...

I feel like Paul Revere riding through the streets screaming at the top of my lungs!

HAHAHAHA

I am so excited that you were excited about hopping with us for Halloween and Christmas.

Carol and I got busy and made up some buttons you can post right away, just to keep you inspired.

I'm hosting the Halloween hop "Out of the Dark" from Oct 20-23.

As always, anything "Halloween"" theme goes.

If you love creepy, you're one of us, but there is plenty of room for the sweeter side of things, as well.

My grandies definitely prefer the sweeter side.

Carol will be hosting her annual "Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange" hop

December 1-4. That way you have plenty of time to "perfect" those delicious cookie recipes, that get shared on this hop.

So share your holiday favorite treat and/or project with us all. It really puts us in the spirit of the season.

If by chance you are new to hops, Carol wrote up a great explanation on her blog.

I can't even pretend to say it as well as she did, so HERE's the link to read it for yourself.

I am taking Halloween signups now. Just drop me an email with the following information. We do our best to accommodate any date preferences you may have.

Picnic Party Challenge-It's My Day

This month Carol is hosting a "Picnic Party".

All the fun things you can think of, to make summertime the most fun!

She suggested making something to use for a picnic, like a basket or a tote.

Or a square quilt. 50" X 50" is the standard picnic size quilt measurement.

This one was an easy one for me. Carol and I met at "Garden of Quilts" last year in Lehi, Utah, and got to hear Jenny Doan from Missouri Star, speak. She talked about how everyone expects her to make a quilt for them when they get married and about how difficult it was to know their color preferences, their styles, etc. Would they really like it or even use it??? Who wouldn't love a quilt made by Jenny, but she is absolutely right, it's a lot of work, especially if they don't use it. She now makes picnic quilts for wedding gifts and shares wonderful tips on keeping marriages fresh and alive.

We had a wedding coming up...so ding ding ding...the bells went off in my head.

The kids share their love of the outdoors and chose a fishing theme for their wedding.

I went through my quilt patterns and found the perfect one...

This is "Gone Fishing" by Angie Padilla

It doesn't matter if you standing in the water...

sittin' in a boat...

or sleepin, in a boat...it's all about the adventure.

LOL!!

The details in this pattern, are what drew me in.

It was fun picking fabrics for it.

Just as much fun as working on decorations for the wedding.

The guest "book" were little wooden fish, to sign and hang up on the side of this cool old truck.

Gifts were put on the tailgate!

We used a huge fish net, I bought at an auction in Alaska, years ago. Why you ask??? Well, put a sign in my hand at an auction, and I kind of loose my mind! LOL!! Much like a sale at a quilt shop.

Each guest got a fishing bucket filled with goodies. And if you look close you can see that there were live fish on the table.

The cake sat on top of a glass table full of live fish.

We even had a fish and chip "bar", potato chips and goldfish!

How redneck is that?

LOL!!

So as you can see, the fishing quilt tied it all together.

As Jenny suggested I added a label, (forgot to take a photo) telling them keep dating their whole lives and to picnic once a week. A bottle of wine and a peanut butter sandwich on the living room floor when life gets crazy.

The quilt is to be loved and used and is looking forward to going on many adventures with them throughout their life.

Picnic Party Challenge Hop Starts Monday

Summer is in full swing and picnics are popping up all over here, so join in on the fun and get your picnic party hats on.

The challenge this month is to create something to use on a picnic, like a tote, a basket or a quilt. I love these kind of challenges!

What's Your Craziest Quilting Project?

Have you ever started something that you found yourself asking,

am I "Crazy" or what?

Do you have a project or technique, that you are "Crazy" in love with?

Got a "Crazy" story about a project to share?

Well, we have a blog hop for you!

We all know that crazy and scary feeling of wondering what we were thinking, when we started or were in the middle of sewing something out of our comfort zone.

Now's the time to share them with us all!

It always make me feel better, knowing I'm not truly the only crazy person out there!

The rules are simple, make your project, write a post and have it scheduled to publish by midnight EST, the day your scheduled.

Then sit back and enjoy sharing and commenting, during the blog hop.

When Pigs Fly June Challenge Blog Hop Day 4 in Review

So many flying pigs that we almost have to "duck" when they whizzzzz by.

LOL!!

I am loving how everyone has risen up to the occasion.

Carol really rose up with her 6 finishes. Wow, wow, wow. Now that's going to town! They are all great, but well...those Ghastlies have my heart, for sure.
Karrin has been busy finishing up 3 projects and has another one out of hiding. I am in love with her "Blessings" quilt she is working on.
Julia shared a fun Avatar runner with us and a really cool Pixel quilt the a terry cloth backing. Perfect for the beach!
Sharon shared her system to not have a ton of PIGS laying around. She has a strict 2 year policy...finish it or pass it along. I applaud her for her organization and commitment.
Moira has tackled repairing an old antique quilt that her great grand mother made. What an undertaking. I bow down to you! She is also finishing up a nice top she found at a second hand store, so she can donate it. What labors of love!

Yes, our bloggers have met the challenge this month, with all their projects.

A big thanks to all of you who participated this month.

Now we all have room for the next challenges in our sewing rooms!

When Pigs Fly June Challenge Blog Hop Day 3 in Review

I got a kick out of Raewyn's (from New Zealand) description of projects not finished. They refer to grocery sacks as supermarket bags, which make them PISB's.

or cardboard boxes PICB's. Joy (from Australia) also refereed to them as PIGB's Projects in grocery bags! I'm sure some one can come up with some catchy phrase for these acronyms! LOL!!

I don't know about where you all live, but they got rid of grocery bags here this year. Now we have to bring our own, or pay 10 cents for a flimsy store one.

I didn't think I would ever remember to take them out of my car and into the store, but I'm getting there, finally.

Our bloggers today, did not disappoint.

Bea made the cutest little piggy pouch and took us on a tour of her sewing room. She is really organized....I should learn to take a page out of her book. LOL!!
Sandie's post was not only a great finish, but perfect for the upcoming 4th of July, here in the USA. She shared a binding tool that I think is a must in my sewing room, after watching this YouTube video ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxUZiryM-yI
Joy shared the sweetest little stitchery (also the oldest, staring at her on her design wall) Oh can we identify with that, right?
Elizabeth delighted us with the sweetest tray of cheese and crackers this morning. She is definitely the queen of wool felt projects. I absolutely love this one and her little piggy, too!
Linda finished a beautiful Christmas cross stitch table topper and has a SAL(stitch along) quilt on her longarm. Whoop whoop!

When Pigs Fly June Challenge Blog Hop Day 2 In Review

We had more projects see the light of day, today.

It's always such a good feeling to know that we have finally finished something that's been hiding in bags, boxes, totes and corners for so long.

Leah shared her beauty that's been hiding in the closet for awhile. It really sings!
Sharon & Susan, collectively our Ms P Design team, once again delighted us with their adorable pig applique designs. Sharon finished a beautiful Mariner Star quilt, too.
Selena has been busy finishing a memory star quilt, bowl cozies and a cool Kawandi project.
Charlene took us down "Beatnik" memory lane with her awesome finish of a Tiki quilt. The fun clipart in her post makes me want to design something new to stitch. LOL!
Raewyn at "Stitching Farm Girl" has had some technical difficulties. She is in New Zealand and emailed me early this morning. There is quite a time change between them and the USA, so make sure you stop by later today or tomorrow and visit her blog. https://stitchingfarmgirl.blogspot.com/
Michelle delighted is with her finish of her "Blessing of Summer" quilt. The 3-D embellishments are such a sweet addition.
