Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange-It's My Day

Our last blog hop and there are no cookies for me to share.
I am still trying to hang onto some of the weight loss I worked so hard on, but I did find something that I think you will get a kick out of. I heard this on the radio the other day and I couldn't stop laughing...

(throwback from our 2014 blog hop)

So grab your favorite cuppa, sit back and enjoy!
(OK...maybe I might be drinking and dreaming of this recipe HERE)
tee hee

It sure is and I know that I will likely be indulging in more than I should, soon.
LOL!!
I've been busy with a couple of Christmas projects to share today.

First one...Merry and Bright

My embroidery machine has been working overtime, lately. I absolutely went crazy when I saw this on Design's by JuJu. It's applique in the hoop and was so much fun to put together. All the little elements are just so darn cute. It's hard to see, but I used metallic thread in most of the blocks, so it really sparkles.

My second project is this years, "Red Boot Quilt Company"  Christmas Sew-Along.
Toni, never disappoints with her fun designs.

This 46" X 52" quilt packs the cutest gift tags ever.

I was getting nervous about finishing this up, in time for the hop. My newest grandie's name was a secret until she was born, just two weeks ago now.

Each tag is 5 1/2" wide and 11 1/2" long. How fun would they be on a large Christmas package.
I may just have to make another set of these, soon.
You might want to check out the the Red Boot Quilt Company HERE and grab the patterns, while they are free!
Now hop on over and see what's cookin' in my fellow bloggers kitchens this holiday season...
Don't forget to leave them a sweet comment telling them just how much you have enjoyed seeing their projects this year.

Days Filled With Joy

I do have one last thing to share...

We had a craft day last week during Thanksgiving break. These guys made reindeer out of empty Dunkin Donut coffee containers. It was so much fun. We painted them with chalk paint and hit up the Dollar Tree for hats and antlers, then scrounged through Nana's craft supplies to finish them off. They look more like Bert from Sesame Street in a reindeer costume to me, but these two just love them. No fingers were burned by hot glue guns in the process, so it was a win all the way around!

That's it for me. I know it's our last hop together, but I am not saying goodbye to anyone. I will still be here blogging away and I just might jump in on a hop occasionally, or even host one. You just never know, so keep in touch!

To Carol and Carla (who retired awhile back)...thank you girls for inviting me in to share the hosting fun with you. I will miss  you both, but friends are friends and we will see what the next chapter in our lives bring. Hugs!

Have a very blessed holiday season!

Bee Kind Blog Hop...It's my Day!

I'm so excited about this hop. There is nothing more fun that sharing a little kindness with each other, especially in the times we are living in. So grab your fuzzy slippers and cuppa, kick back and enjoy the posts this week.

My project is Nancy Halvorsen's "Be Attitudes" quilt. I have had the book for a very long time. It was time to pull it off the shelf and blow the dust off of it.
Her quilt is done in dark colors and I have always loved it, but I had a bag of strips of leftover fabrics that was overflowing, so I decided to make it more of a grab, what I have and see where it takes me, kind of quilt. I did make an effort to try to keep like fabrics apart from each other and sort of co-ordinate the block fabrics, but it didn't always work out that way.

Here are the blocks and their special "Be" messages...

I have to be honest, when I was piecing the background blocks and putting them up on the design wall, it looked horrible. I came really close to throwing it all away, but...

I decided to take the leap and just see what happened when the appliques went on them.

I couldn't believe what a difference that made.

There were hiccups...I really need to learn to read first and not just jump in and start things. I thought I was so smart scanning the pages and reversing them on the printer. I traced, fused and cut out all the block pieces before I realized the pattern had already been reversed for me.
Eye roll here!
That made a bit of a challenge for placing the words...but

...in the end, it really became a "Joyful" quilt.

Next up...
This is "Bee Grateful" designed by Lisa Capen Quilts
What a fun project to do and I finally put my favorite piece of snow dyed fabric to use.
Check out her YouTube video and link for the free pattern

Lastly...I've been working on kennel quilts the past couple of weeks.
The little quilt club I belong to, has been making these for years.

I'm doing the happy dance with 108 quilts, quilted and ready to deliver to animal shelters in need. In fact, 36 of those quilts went to California and Nevada to help with the animals that have been effected by the wild fires, already.
I went on a mission to clean up all the old fabric I have stashed in every corner of this place and make a few puppies and kitty's happy, too.

The paper pieced star quilt is a leftover block and probably the fanciest kennel quilt, this girl will ever make. LOL!!

It's My Day of the "Something Smells Fishy" Blog Hop

Carol always has such fun blog hop theme ideas. We love fish here. Pond fish, tank fish and fish on the wall. And for those of  you who have raised a houseful of boys, when they go thru puberty, they get pretty fishy smelling sometimes, too. (Know what I mean?)

So this hop resonated with me.

My little sweet pea is crazy about Baby Shark.
Being an applique junkie I love to turn clipart into quilts. So I went searching online for "free baby shark clipart".
I found this one and ran it thru the "Paint" program on my windows computer to enlarge it. Since it was more square in size and I was making a lap quilt, I searched again for something to add to make it longer.
This one was just what I was looking for. I cropped out the sharks, leaving a nice ocean bottom scene.
Then I cut it in 4 pieces and ran each piece thru "Paint" again to get the size I needed.
The addition of an underwater mountain and some sea creatures gave me the length and interest this quilt needed.
I kept playing around with things and went on to adjust my quilt photo with AI, as well. I'm not sure if I am really in love with the idea of artificial intelligence, but it was kinda fun to mess around with it.
Definitely not great clarity on the free trial version, but fun.
The fishy business continues...
You know how I love to show my grandies.
Since these little fishes have been enjoying their pool this summer, it was time for some new pool towels.
Prehistoric land fish, lets say!
They do the job and the kids have have as much fun playing in the grass with them, as swimming.
This pattern is called "Cuddle Monster" Nap Mat by Whistlepig Creek Productions.
I changed out the underside to a terry cloth fabric and voila. It worked great and the kids love them.

Thinking about kids, I don't think I have even shared, that I have a new little one making an appearance in  November.
These kids are expecting and we had a gender reveal a few weeks ago.
They celebrated with a "bang"!
Oh that crazy fishing and hunting passion these kids have.
This little girl is going to have an adventure filled life, that's for sure!
Please don't name her Bambi, I am scarred for life watching that movie
LOL!!

Enough about me, now swim on over and see what fishyness is going on with my fellow bloggers.
Leave them a little treat, with a sweet comment or two as well.
