It's my day on the Polar Bear Blog Hop

I'm excited to share my project with you today.  A little stash and pattern busting, was done for this hop and that makes me happy. I've long been collecting pattern from quilt magazines, that I "might" do some day. Know what I mean? LOL!! My notebooks are overflowing and it was time to make em or get rid of em.  I found a pattern from the Quilt Sampler 2014 Spring/Summer issue, that was just what I needed for this hop. Can I get a whoop whoop?

This is my "Polar Bear Plunge" quilt.
(We even got some snow, so these bears could play outside for their photos)

You can see I changed it up a bit from the original pattern. While I loved all the arctic animal appliques,  I  really wanted to make it just about the polar bears, this time. Out came my hand dye fabrics that I have hoarded long enough!

You may have noticed the clipart at the end of my posts this week...
I saved my favorite for last...

This cutie is can be found at Clipartix.com

I love taking free clipart and turning them into appliques.
It's such a fun way to add a touch of whimsy to a quilt.

Speaking of adding whimsy...earlier this week Sharon Voorman shared a link
for the sweetest little polar bear stuffy. I had already planned to make him for the hop, but had only printed the pattern. That little "virtual kick in the rear" from you Sharon, make me get it in gear!
LOL!!

So I now have this sweet little guy to go with my Plunge quilt.
He is a free pattern from Fluffmonger, you can find
Check out all their free patterns while your there.  They have an adorable Valentines one and V-day is just around the corner. There are even animal noses for face masks, that are just too cute.

My little "sleuth" of bears seem to get along quite nicely.
Yes, a group of bears are called a sleuth or sloth, really they are. You can check it out on
(Who knew!)

I do hope you have enjoyed the "Polar Bear Plunge" blog hop. The only plunge that promises to keep you warm and dry in front of your computer.
LOL!!

A big thanks to my fellow bloggers for making this hop a big success!
You all "rocked" the hop.

I opened up my new "Country Register" newspaper this week and found the perfect saying
 to end this hop...

Polar Bear Blog Hop Day 5

I hope you are enjoying this hop as much as I am.

Today's bloggers kept the fun going, with their projects.

  • Brenda designed the cutest snowman mugrug and shared a bear quilt she made for her grandson.
  • Selena designed a dish drying mat and towels for her "not so polar bear plunge" but ocean side plunge. Yep, we are all just a little jealous about that, here. LOL!!
  • Susan and Sharon from Ms P Designs share so many of their fun Polar Bear designs with us and introduced a too cute for words, Yeti block!
  • Gail made the sweetest teddy quilt. It just makes you smile.
  • Karrin dug into her WIP (works in progress) pile and found the perfect wool runner for this hop.
  • Theresa also pulled out a project from 2016. She shared her gorgeous wool blocks. Baby it's cold outside sure made my heart melt.

Sadly tomorrow is the last day of this hop, but the fun is not over because these bloggers have lots to share.

Polar Bear Day 4...Don't Shut the Door

There is no "hump" day when it comes to blog hops.
Our Wednesday bloggers pulled out all the stops to share their best.

  • Kathy made the sweetest little bear and sleeping bag for her niece, and shared her progress on a fabulous bear quilt.
  • Beth was lucky enough to pattern test for Lorna at "Sew Fresh Quilts" and made the cutest polar bear pillow.
  • Kathleen made an awesome snowflake mini, quilted with Sulky Holoshimmer thread.
  • Andrée took us on an art quilt journey, all while sharing a true polar bear story.

  • Bea delighted us with her wintry gray snowball table topper.

  • Elana rocked her paper pieced Polar Bear with quilting that is awesome.
  • Turid, who lives not far from Polar Bear land, delighted us with so many fun projects. Her drawstring bags are great for so many things.

The fun just kept on going.

Oh my goodness, did you catch all the fabulous projects on day 1?

  • Carla delighted us, with the cutest bear quilt for her new grandson.
  • Anorina rocked the "improv" world with her fun pillow and incredible quilting.
  • Kim shared how to survive those cold Michigan winters, with her tea tray and showed us how to make sweet little trivets.
  • Daryl made the cutest can cover that would be perfect in my sewing room or anywhere else.
  • Kim, has designed another great block for this hop, in my favorite colors.

Here are more photos of the polar bears taken in the summertime.

NOTE: He did not take these photos. They had a computer at the camp, that anyone could share their photos on.

Its cold even in the summer...trust me I know. I took a day trip to Barrow AK and liked to froze.
LOL!!
It was an incredibly interesting place to visit, though.

Polar Bear Plunge Blog Hop starts Monday

It's colder than cold in most of the USA and we are taking the plunge.
32 fabulous bloggers have joined me in hibernating in their sewing rooms.
We promise that you will be delighted and entertained with what they have come up with.

You can visit these blogs tomorrow...

The complete schedule for the week, can be found

You can also follow the hop on the "Polar Bear Plunge" Pinterest board as well,
It will be updated daily.

I thought I would share a few photos with you throughout the week.
My youngest worked up on the Arctic Circle for 1 winter, cooking for an oil camp after he graduated from culinary school. One winter is all he would deal with, but it was an experience of a lifetime for him.
NOTE: He did not take these photos. They had a computer at the camp, that anyone could share their photos on.

It was dark and it was cold...

But they did see polar bears. In fact some days the bears were leaning up against the door of their building and they couldn't get out. How's that for a perfect excuse to call out "sick"?
LOL!!

Thankfully we can stay warm at home and enjoy the polar bears in this hop, instead!

Love is in the air, as we are just weeks away from Valentines day, and

Their dies make cutting out applique shapes so fast and easy.

You can download the "FREE" pattern over on the Thermoweb blog
