Changing again...

I have just updated my email subscription service.

Sorry folks, but you may be getting emails from MailChimp asking you to activate your subscription.

It's all a learning experience for me. I'm just trying to get ahead of Feedburner going away in July.

My mind is fried with all this tech stuff.

It's time for me to get into my happy place and start stitching!

See you soon.

I'm Jumping In

I was so excited when Carol "Just Let Me Quilt" and Carla "Creatin in the Sticks
asked me to share hostessing their monthly blog hops with them.

June will be my month and after some thinking on a theme,
I have landed on "Fairy Tales"

What's your Fairy Tale?

Slaying dragons
Glass Slippers
Getting corners to match on our quilts
Someone other than me taking out the trash
Riding down the beach on a horse, with the "I can't believe it's not butter" guy...

Hey, a girl has to dream!

Put on your thinking cap and tell us what your Fairy Tale is.
I bet we can all get a laugh and a big dose of inspiration from you.

If you want to join in, drop me an email at

Calicojoan@aol.com

Put "Fairy Tales Blog Hop" in the subject line.

Tell me your
Name
Blog name
Blog link
Date preference, if any.

A big thanks to Carla for her "Stitchin' in the Kitchen" Hop.
My mind is swimming with ideas from everyone.

Don't forget Carols next hop

Oh, and Carol and I are so excited...
We have talked Carla into designing with us in our Cackling Stitches group.

Carol came up with the perfect new header for our group as well...
There we are, the 3 of us stirring the pot.
You know, that no good has to come from that!
hahahahaha
We would love for you to join in on the fun with our group, if you haven't already!

In the Kitchen Stitchin' Blog Hop

Whoo hoo...this week we are sharing our kitchen projects! Lets face it, the kitchen really is the heart of the home, for most of us. Even the die hard, "I hate to cook" girl that I am, doesn't mean that I don't love my kitchen.

While mine is a bit unconventional, it's my favorite space, because I put in all the things that I absolutely love in it when we remodeled. And YES, the contractor thought I was a crazy person! What can I say.  LOL!!

My kitchen is where all the good times happen, "sew" it was time to make a fun new topper for my table. When I "spied" this cupcake fabric at the store...I went home and right to work on it.

This "crazy" bright, new party topper is just what my kitchen needed.
Sunglasses suggested.
LOL!

My "Crafters Edge" Crossover II machine and triangle dies made it quick and easy to cut out.
Once it was complete...

...there was something about the corners that caught my attention.

With the leftover fabric I made these potholders, that crazy enough
were the perfect fit for them.

OK, so the potholders are either just a silly decoration, or a fun mug rug,
either way they really put the "P" into party!!!
So if your in my area, grab your "shades" and drop in for a cuppa.
I will be happy to break out my bright topper for ya!
Heck, you might even find a "real" cupcake or two, too.
Hummm two, too...is that a thing???
Thanks Carla for being our "Hostess" with the "Mostess" this month.
My stitchin' is done and my kitchen is open.

While we wait on my cupcake delivery, check out my fellow bloggers today.

New Blog Hop Next Week and Email Changes

Are you ready for some Kitchen Fun?
Carla from "Creatin' in the sticks" is hosting a fun new blog hop next week.
I've been stitching away for this and am excited to share, along with a group of fabulous bloggers.
Here's the schedule...

Monday, April 19th

Tuesday, April 20th

Wednesday, April 21st

Thursday, April 22nd

We all hope to see you there!

And there are changes...

In July, Feedburner is no longer going to support email subscription service. While it won't effect
anything with the blog directly, for the 1500+ of you who do subscribe, you will no longer get those emails directly in your inbox through Feedburner.
I have added a new widget to allow you to continue receiving those emails through MailChimp.
I am rolling everyone's email address over to the new platform. Hopefully it doesn't cause you any issues.
I am not sure if it will ask you to activate your account or not.
Sorry, if so, it's just because it's new.
I do apologize for the inconvenience,  but this too shall pass!
LOL!!!

An Honor to be Passed Along...

Monday I was nominated for the 2021 Outstanding Blogger award from Susan over at "Quilt Fabrication". It was quite the honor, but I really have not been able to live up award recently.

My life turned upside down for the absolute best reason ever, almost a year ago.

Becoming a Nana is exciting enough, but having grown up with brothers and having boys myself, having this girl around has me jumping for joy! Getting to watch her while momma and daddy are working is the best honor on the world.  Hench, my blogging time has become very limited...

I would like to take the opportunity though...to pass the award "posthumously" on to
Marian Pena of "Seams to be Sew"
(I have "borrowed" this photo from her Facebook page)
For those of you who know Marian, she has provided us with her adorable patterns and shared her talents with us for many years.
I am not sure how many know, but she passed away March 15.
She called me just before her passing, saying she had been in the hospital for 13 days and had just been released to a rehabilitation center to regain her strength. She was supposed to have posted her block for the "Around the Block US Tour" and had no way of finishing her post.
A quick text thanking me was the last I heard from her.
The next thing I saw was a post from her husband on her personnel Facebook page, announcing her passing, and a post from a friend who said it was a brief 1 month battle with cancer.
Marian, you deserve this "2021 Outstanding Blogger Award" more than anyone I know, and you will be dearly missed.

As for myself, I am an still working as an educator for "Crafter's Edge" and "Thermoweb"
I do keep up with Carol Swift of "Just Let Me Quilt" and Carla Henton of "Creatin' in the Sticks" monthly blog hops. There are just no better places you can visit, to find the best and most inspirational bloggers. Each and every one of them deserves an award.

A big thank you to Susan for the award nomination. I am passing it along to those who are so deserving of it.

Pandemic Commerative Quilt

Lets face it, we have all been through the wringer this past year. While things are starting to look up, we are still not where we would all like to be, just yet. I thought I just wanted to forget it ever happened, but...

Once I saw this pattern, I knew I had to have it in my quilt collection.
50 years from now, someone might get a giggle out of it.
Or just wonder what the heck Zoom and Netflix are!

With all the history we find in quilting, it just seemed like it was a "must make",
 for me!

You can find the pattern from Angie Padilla Quilt Patterns

I've been posting these blocks on my Instagram and Facebook page daily.
If you'd like to take a closer look at each block, you can check them out with the links on the right hand side bar.
Do you see a Pandemic Quilt in your future???
