Oh how we wish for Sunny Days

Does this guy just make you want to smile.
You've probably noticed I have been going back into the archives of my old quilts.
You see I have been making a real effort to document all my quilts.
Took me long enough now didn't it?
:-)
This pattern was in a quilt magazine many long years ago.
Now if only I was as good at keeping track of that!

Don't forget how important it is that you track all your quilts.
Some day, someone is going to want to know.

Now your probably asking what the heck was that post title all about?

Can you see it?
Right out my front window, a tornado.
This was on Monday as I was heading to work.
One out in front of the house, and one out in back.
Thank goodness we had no damage.
There was very little for anyone else either.

Today its rain, rain, rain.
Making me wish for Sunny Days!
til it's hot and I start complaining about that!
;-)
Ahhh, the joy of whining.
LOL!!

Sun Bonnet Sue

I got to play with more Sun Bonnet Sues, for Prairie Cottage Corner recently.

First off... Patriotic Sue
Does she just make your heart sing.
I LOVE the flag corner stones!

Patriotic Sue and her little dog too!

Next up...
Christmas in July!
Yep it's still July for a few more days.

Now if I tell you she is so "stinkin" cute, you do know I mean that in the best of ways!

This one just makes my heart sing!

The fabrics that Kathie picked out are just incredible.
So bright and so perfect!

It's all about the texture with us quilters.
Here's a peek at the back.
Fun huh?

When I sent this back to Kathie, I told her these trees were screaming for embellishing.
You will have to visit her blog to see what they have done!
:-)

Now for those of you who caught it...yes, she is having a give a way on her blog.
You can win a choice of either of these 2 patterns.  You've only got till Wednesday July 30th, so don't delay. These little gals are fun, fun, fun!   And the holidays are getting closer and closer.

Blast to the Past...Dad's memory quilt

Great dad's deserve great quilts.

Quilts with photos.

Hubby has always been a great dad, and having the boys help plan out his birthday surprise was so much fun.
Those were the days!

This is Fabri-Scrapping, from Sew Artfully Yours.

                                    Using Cindy Losekamps software.

We planned a theme for each block.

Finding embroidery designs and buttons, to compliment each one.

This was a 2006 finish, and I have to say, that quilt has been on the back of our couch ever since. The photos are as clear today as they were back then. Not too bad for so many years, huh? Although I must say the newer printer fabrics to give you much crisper photos now.

I used a variety of printer fabric in this quilt.

This was a newspaper ad.
Hummm.... we don't hear about news papers much anymore!

I didn't know much about quilting when this was done. It's kind of fun to go back and see where you have come from.
And dream about where you've been in your life!

Memories, that's what its all about.

No sew day

It was a no sew kind of day yesterday.  Nope, my BFF of 50 years and her family, came to town! We took a little adventure to the Denver Botanical Gardens to see the Chihuly Blown Glass exhibit.

Warning:  lots of photos. :-)

There was surprisingly few flowers in bloom, but those that were, were stunning.
I can almost see each and every one as the base of a fabulous art quilt.

Oh and my "pic" of the day...

Kind of takes your breath away doesn't it?
:-)
Update

I just got a comment from a no reply blogger about the last photo I took and an award winning quilt at Houston last year.

This blows me away, I had  no idea...
Thanks Kristin for the link.
