I have to say, when Michelle at the Quilting Gallery, said she was sick of the the winter blues, we were in the middle of a good size storm here, and I was feeling her pain!
So to cope, I decided to turn my thoughts towards Easter, which is rapidly approaching.
Now if this little guy can't warm you heart... well what can I say? He is another one of those marvelous Whippersnapperdesigns (its linked for you) rubber stamp cuties.I recently stumbled on WhipperSnapperDesigns.com thru Pinterest. Their designs were so adorable, that I knew I wanted to turn them into quilties. I contacted them and asked and they graciously gave me permission do so for my personal use.
The simple shapes allow for loads of fun playing with free motion quilting and thread playing.
It really gives them personality!
Adding a bright lime green border was the perfect way to say "Hello Spring, haven't seen much of you under all that snow lately!
Now if you have read my blog, I have talked about letting your fabrics speak to you when quilting. This is a good example. The plaid, made for perfect quilting lines. As I was working my way thru the border, I decided that I really didnt' need to go back the opposite direction. I rather like the looks of the simple straight stitches.
Looking at the back, you can see what I mean.
Don't you love peeking at quilt backs.
The texture, that all the stitching reveals, is so visually
exciting.
So there you have it.
You've heard that old adage, Spring has sprung...
we can't say that here just yet, but
Spring is about to...well "spring"!!
:-)

Down the road, I'm looking forward to starting work on our spring 2014 line of designs. Never a dull moment. Please hop on over to Prairie Cottage Corner when you have a chance and we'll visit over a virtual cup of tea and a scone. See ya!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!! I am a follower and I dont' have an embroidery machine. I have been quilting for afew years now and I am loving it. I've sewn for many many years. Down the road hmm so many quilts and sew little time :) but something I have started to do since I hand quilt my quilts right now is to put a little quilted something hidden in each quilt. Like one granddaughter loves dogs so in the midst of all the other swirls of hand quilting (I use stencils) there is alittle puppy dog. and another is a lizard. I am now doing a QOV for a Navy person and it has the navy anchor in the center of one of the blocks. Just fun
ReplyDeleteI just love what you did with the bunny and lady bug... great job on both of them... I do have a embroidery machine and love using it when making my quilt blocks.. I am a follower and I do not have an embroidery machine. I am just getting ready to start on my Bunny Hill Snowman quilt. I also have several projects waiting to be completed, some BOM's.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that quilt is just adorable. I am a follower and do have an embroidery machine. In my quilting road, I am excited because my first big quilt is going on a road trip Friday when my husband and I will be taking it to a long arm quilter to be turned into something even more beautiful. I'm really excited and can't wait to see my first big quilt finished. I think it will give me the push to get over this slump I've been in once I see how it looks totally done. I have plans to work on a strip quilt on Saturday but my plans are generally tossed to the wind when I make them so we shall see if I can touch my machine Saturday or not. I also have fabric purchased a week ago to make my 1 yr old Granddaughter some pants that I had planned to make this week. Of course, as always my plans were pushed aside while I work on setting up a new computer my husband surprised me with last Friday. I have lots of plans but no time it seems. Imagine if I weren't disabled and home all day? LOL
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower. I want to start a Wedding Ring quilt. I have always wanted to do one. Yes, I have an embroidery machine. Thank you for the chance to win your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHi, I am a follower and would love either one if I win. Thanks for a chance. I have a large King sized blue jean quilt top done and I bought the backing and now I can't find a long arm quilter that wants to do it. They keep telling me to just tie it so that is what I am going to do this summer when I can take it outside to work on it. Someone told me it was to heavy,
