It's Tammy Time...

Tammy... such a sweet little name.

Somehow my little bag, is having a hard time living up to that sweetness. Mine has more of a feel, of a bull in a china shop. Or should I say a moose in a millinery shop!

Now for those who are wondering just what the heck a Millinery shop is...
Well, here is what Wikipedia has to say...

*****************************************************************
Hatmaking is the manufacture of hats and headwear ; millinery is the designing and manufacture of hats. It can also be used to refer to a type of store that sells those goods.
*****************************************************************

Who knew...right!    :-)  And if y'all remember my infamous chicken hat... Well enough said!   LOL!

Now back on topic.  Here is my little Tammy,  oh let's call mine, the Mortimer bag, filled with all it's goodies. (Don't you just love the button I found. It's from Ecuador and is made from a coconut shell.)

I chose to put all my machine supplies in this little bag.  You see Bernina has so generously designed a great little case for all your extra's...

Do I use it... NO!
It sits nicely, but seems to just be in the way all the time.
So I scatter my favorite feet, etc all over the place and end  up knocking them in the trash can, more often than not.

That does not make Ma Ma happy!

So, by throwing them all in my Mortimer bag, it's much harder to loose them, and I have what I need at hand to grab and take to classes, too.  Of course there are a few extras in there, like my trusty seam ripper and little snip scissors, machine oil and a brush is something I have learned is a good thing to have at all times.  The added bonus for me, was the fact that my stitch card fits nicely in the bag. I can't tell you how many times I have got to class and not had it with me. (cause it sure does not fit in that nice little case Bernina made)
There will surely be many more things added to this bag very soon!
:-)

So there you have it, my version of Madame Samms lovely Tammy bag,
out-door-ified.

Speaking of Madame Samm, here is me, sending a big "SMOOCH" to  you for so generously designing and sharing this incredibly versatile bag with us all.
You are just the best!

:-)

Give a way time...

Since "bags" are the theme, I have a wonderful book from Nancy Zieman to share with one lucky winner.
Wouldn't a companion bag to your Tammy bag be fun?

Just look at all these fun bags!
I'll pick my winner next Tuesday June 18th, the last day of our hop, from those who leave a comment telling me something about themselves...
Cause you know how much I like to hear about you!
Now I know there is something special you would love to share!

Make sure your not a no-reply blogger, it's impossible to reach you if you win!

  9. Okay you are officially brilliant! I love the idea of having your machine supplies in a Tammy Bag. I have mine in a drawer and they scatter everywhere - I'm going to make another bag this weekend just for that! Something about me...I am reretiring next week. Yep, guess I didn't get it right the first time. I retired for 9 years, went back to work for a year, and am now reretiring for good and ever. :) blessings, marlene

  15. I do love your use of the Tammy bag. I think it is a cute bag and it is certainly practical. I know what you mean about those fancy cases for all the machine supplies. Mine never get put back there either ;-(

  16. Your tammy bag is very cute. I think it was a great idea to use it for your supplies. I have a frisbee with flannel glued to the inside and that rubbery no slip fabric on the outside. I keep all of my things there that I need to sew with. My machine feel are so handy. If I put them on the other side of the machine, into the trash can they go. I know exactly what you are talking about.

  18. I love your Mortimer bag! so cute! I have two kids, 17yo son and 11yo daughter, two dogs and a cat, like to read books, sew, and read blogs. Thanks for the giveaway.

  19. At first glance I thought the Moose was the handle of the bag and then realized the moose was inside the bag. Lol. Mortimer is a great name for your bag. I did by the way know what a Millinery shop was. I use millinery needles for hand applique because I like them better to sew with. Your Bernina is certainly YOU, isn't it? No one would accidentally take that one home with them, lol.
Something about me? I am a mother of 2 and grandmother of one. I love animals. I like to knit, applique, make bags, quilt and sew.

  20. LOVE your machine!!! and of course the Bag! Mortimer is adorable, in his cool lil' sweater! Need it this mornin' here! Chilly in Ohio! :)

I'm pretty new to quilty world...and my two daughter's are learning with me!! Awesome sharing huh? We have 260 Peach Trees, and go to several Farm Mkts a week, when season starts (July-thru mid Sept). I can, freeze, make Jam, and a really Yummy cobbler too! :)

  21. Yes, your Mortimer bag is wonderful. It is sew U. And I agree with you on the Bernina case. It is always in the way. About me: I'm just an old person who is addicted to sewing.

  22. Don't ya just love it when someone designs something and it's obvious they've never used it! I find this happens so many times and yours is another case of frustration, but you have successfully overcome that. From CA, thanks for sharing.

  23. I just love your Mortimer bag. Thanks for sharing it. I would be "mortified" to have my own blog. Just don't feel I have that much to say. Maybe just for me to use as my diary? Who knows, maybe someday. Thanks for sharing, again.

  24. Yep, that fabric definitely needs to be named Mortimer instead of Tammy and we know how you love moose. Wait, what is the correct plural of a moose?

I don't have that problem with my machine but I hate that there is no place to actually store the pedal and cord on mine. No machien is perfect, is it.

About me: I read cookbooks like novels and enjoy cooking when sewing doesn't tie me up. THX for the opportunity for the Zeman bag book/pattern. Those look really cool with the different handles and fabrics they chose.

  25. I love coming to see what moose-like things you make and this little bag is no disappointment. I love the earthy colored fabric and that moose in the hat is just too cute!

  26. First things first, Love, love, love your bag and hate, hate, hate my Bernina storage unit too. Now for the second thing. I have been visiting other stops for today and see that you posted on all of them. You didn't post on mine. sniff, sniff. Looking at your list of todays participants your name is where my name is on my list. I actually thought you were on the list for Wednesday and I had a heck of a time trying and retrying to connect. Well I'm heere now and it was worth the wait. If you get a chance please stop by and visit me and Tammy.

  27. ohh so cute, I love your moose. I am currently working on a small zipper bag to keep all my bits and pieces from my sewing machine. I want something that is easy to carry, but keeps them safe.

  28. Your bag is adorable! So is the little moose!
A bit about me? Well, I am taking care of grandkids for the next month or so, so I am having a hard time getting to all my quilting and sewing except what I can get them to do with me. (I'm loving it, though!)

  29. Sweet little bag and such a perfect place to store all your goodies. As for me I am a Cape Bretoner and proud of it , also I own the same machine as you ;-) Thanks for taking part in this fun hop !

  32. Your Tammy bag turned out really cute. Lets see something about me. I was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer and underwent a partial mastectomy but 5 of the margins came back positive so I now will have to have another surgery which will be a total mastectomy to my right breast . Ladies do those self breast exams monthly. If Ihad not be doing my exams I would be in serious trouble. As I knew right away it was a new lump and seemed to be growing and changeing unlike all the other fibrocystic lumps I have had on the past. So their is something you now know about me...

  33. Rosemary B here:
I adore your bag and your cutie moose, and that cool button.
Good idea for the machine supplies. I also dump mine in a drawer.

Thank you for sharing your adorable bag today.
Something about me, because I want to win a book!.
I have been sewing all my life, but in 2000 I decided to take up ice skating, then ice dancing.
I am wild and fearless, I did all of that for 12 years, then, I was done with that. I was really good too. I still have my $1000 skates in my closet upstairs. They are pretty worn out but sometimes I think about skating again... I guess I got tired mostly of the rink hassles and some of the people.
I am back to sewing. and in the process of moving my parents close to me after my mom had a stroke.

    Happy week-end dear

  36. I am retired at age 55 and am now able to sew every day if i want. I recently got a part time job at my LQS and I love it. It is so much fun to go to work. Where else can you get paid to pet fabric all day?

  37. Somehow I have missed several today. Glad I get you by email. I Love your bag. Great job. Something about me????I am mother of 2 girls, grandma to an 11 year old girl and a boy to be born in about 35 days. The grandson will be the first boy born to our family in 40 years, and the granddaughter shares a middle name with 5 generations. I sew on a featherweight that was my moms. First thing she made on it was a coat for me.

  45. Mortimer is a darling name and fits right into your outdoorsy blog. Great job!
I've been sewing for about 60 years and quilting for the last 3 1/2. I started reading blogs just a couple of years ago and find it to be more addicting than I ever expected!

  49. How did I miss this post?? I will have to blame it on technology cos I can't think of anything else. It surely could not have been my fault!!!!!
Love what you have done with your bag. It looks great and you have put it to perfect use.
And by the way - how often do you sit outside under the fir trees to do your sewing? Looks like an interesting spot! Looks like a perfect spot for a Mortimer.
Now let me check to see if I have missed anything else.
