And all thru the house. We are running like crazy, to finish that mouse...and table topper, quilt, potholder, dishtowel, those PJ's, oh the baking, and the tree...and and and and...........
Oh but one smart Samm, came up with a way to make it all happen! With help from a very special little "ELF" Marlene, we are going to have a few extra moments this holiday to sit back and enjoy! Thanks you two, for all you do!
I received my package from Brandy over at Pampered Pettit.
Where to start, where to start?
Is it with this adorable little bag, with quilting peeking thru that just makes you smile?
Lets face it...would be absolutely perfect for anyone.
Makeup bag, child's toy bag or pencil case, a project tote for quilt class.
Best yet it's personalized. Is that the greatest?
I know I'm going to be busy, making up these little treasures for my quilting buddies.
Is it this delightful toffee?
Oh, I'd love to tell you I will share...
but that just isn't happening!
I have no idea where they all went. They were on the plate, then they weren't.
Could it be that I ate them all!!!!
I contacted Brandy, and she is willing to share the recipe for this yummy toffee!
And I might add that yummy just doesn't do it justice. It's wicked good.
English Cracker Toffee
(From the kitchen of Joan K Harris, my cousin)
1 C butter
1 C brown sugar
1 pkg saltine crackers
2 C chocolate chips
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a jellyroll pan with foil, spray with non-stick cooking spray or grease with butter. Cover with crackers (~40). In a sauce pan bring to a boil for 3 minutes the butter and brown sugar. Pour over crackers and bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven, you may need to spread the toffee over the crackers more evenly at this point. Turn oven off. Let cool 5 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over crackers, place back in oven for 2 minutes, or until chocolate is softened. Remove from oven and spread chocolate evenly over crackers. Cool in fridge or let set overnight to harden.
She even shared the link for the free pattern for the little tote bag.
You can find it right Here.
This little card just about says it all, doesn't it?
Thank you so much Brandy. What a great package to receive!
Now I started a quick little project for the holidays...
This little mug rug was from Angie's Bits and Pieces Christmas in July patterns.
I talk about Angie all the time here. She has the cutest darn designs!
Some how I fell off the wagon of quick gifts!
You see the Grinch is one of my favorite holiday characters.
As I was stitching up the mug rug, I have visions running thru my head, but they were not sugar plums!
Oh no, not at all. They were much more Grinchy than that!
After all, if he can steal one ornament, then why not 12 more?
12 little mug rugs stitched in a row, to make one big quiltie to warm toes below!
OK, so I'm no poet!
What can I say?
An online search for coloring pages, found find this handsome guy!
Just what my quilt needed.
I finally reeled myself in, and did a few more quick gifts.
I love these fabric key chains.
They are so easy to find in my purse.
The wrist strap is great if your
not carrying a purse!
You can find the tutorial HERE
Thanks to The Idea Room.
These hand sanitizer holders, are just perfect for this time of the year.
Elastic, that buttons onto anything, makes them so versatile.
You can find the tutorial for these HERE.
Thanks to The Inspired Wren.
Lastly, a little bit of relaxation...
I recently saw these "over the shoulder" rice bags. I rushed right home to draft one up, for myself.
I just can't tell you how wonderful these feel when they come out of the microwave. Oh so soothing on your neck and shoulders. It's wonderful to wear when your stitching too!
Tomorrow, I will post a little tutorial for you, so you can make your very own.
And trust me, you are going to want one!
It's give a way time, and I have a gift for one of you...
Leave me a comment telling me about your best Grinchy memories, and you just might be the winner of my Grinch mug rug! (cup not included) It just won't fold up and fit into an envelope, but who knows what other surprises might!
I will pick my winner on Nov 21st. The last day of the hop.
Till then I will be watching for all your great gift ideas.
Make sure you visit my fellow bloggers today, after all what's better than watching

My worst Grinch moment occurred when I was in 7th grade...my brother and I opened all our Christmas gifts one day a week or so before Christmas while our parents were out. RUINED Christmas completely!!! Love your mug rug and quilt!! Those sanitizer holders are brilliant - I can never find mine in my purse when I need it!ReplyDelete
I love your Grinch quilt. It's fabulous!ReplyDelete
What wonderful gift ideas! Thank you for sharing the tutorials and that yummy toffee recipe! Happy Holidays!!!ReplyDelete
Joan, you definitely received the sweetest gift from Brandy. They wouldn't have lasted long at my house. Your Grinch mug rug...great...your Grinch quilt ...awesome!! I love it!! So clever to make the sanitizer holders and the microwave neck wrap...looks like a comfy one. I have one that is quite thick and a bit heavy around the neck. I'll be looking for your tutorial. I'm still thinking of my best Grinch Christmas...It must have been sooo bad I forgot about it!! Happy Holidays!!ReplyDelete
Joan, You crack me up! Love your Grinch's!! I was 11 and wanted a Stereo for Christmas. Wrll I found this wood crate in the Basement Fruit Cellar that didn't belong there, so little by little day by day I wedged those wood slats open to see my Stereo in another box. Then I tried to put it back together again, Oh ha ha!! Have a Wonderful Holiday Joan!!ReplyDelete
My (only) Grinchy moment is when I made my laptop sleeve for the Rush Hour blog hop; I had the Grinch peeking out from the back of the sleeve.ReplyDelete
Such fun and clever gift ideas, Joan! Still smiling over the Grinch stealing so many ornaments - what a great idea for a quilt. Thanks for sharing wonderful gift inspiration today - adding your ideas to my list. ;o)ReplyDelete
Mmmm... Brandy's gift looks yummy (the bag and the candy, both!). How sweet that she shared the recipe. Thank you!
Great bag and yummy, yummy looking toffee biscuit. Great gift ideas!ReplyDelete
Well first, let me say your sweet gift from Brandy is just that, really sweet. I love your mug rug and your quilt. I am a big grinch fan too. I also love those key chain holders. Great job Joan!ReplyDelete
Oh Joan! Thank goodness it is getting too cold here for flies the way my mouth hangs open each time I read one of your posts! The Grinch is like my all time fave Christmasy character! I sing the tune ALL year long! Grinchy christmas? Two years ago I decided that although my household loves the decorations yet never has time to help...I cancelled Christmas...it just didn't happen. The fact that I was working nightshift every day for just short of two weeks straight..they graciously let it slide LOLReplyDelete
A Grinch moment was when Mom announced that we would open presents on Christmas Day rather than Christmas Eve. She was biggest Grinch ever to a small child. I love, love your projects and blog.ReplyDelete
OHHHH Joy GrINCH you are not Joan....your ideas are antiseptic clean lol your mug rug, quilt , tags...the one for sanitizer..great idea to share....back to your mug rug...delightful...you do know how to make us smile...now did I miss a moose somewhere???ReplyDelete
What a wonderful bag you received from Brandy! And I love all your projects and ideas, especially the sanitizer holders; how clever!ReplyDelete
A lovely bag and goodies you received! I love your Grinch quilt, so cool! lol.ReplyDelete
Great bag from Brandy! Lots of great uses, for sure. Good thing you took a picture of that toffee before it was gone.... looks yummy!ReplyDelete

The bag that Brandy made for you is ubber adorable and so versatile! I can surely see that for so many different purposes!ReplyDelete
love love love your grinches!! All 13 of them! I may have to make this one.. the quilt that is and maybe a larger version for placemats!! These are so stinking cute!
Your other projects are fast and fun and I can see a host of people making these! Thank you for inspiring us all with your creativity!
I love all your ideas for gifts. Thanks so much for sharing.ReplyDelete
I love, love, love the quilt. I would have to agree with Farm Quilter. I did the same one year. I went and found all of my gifts and then felt yucky and guilty for the next two weeks and even worse when my parents gave them to me on Christmas. I had to pretend to be surprised. Ugh it was the worst. I never did that again LOL. Everything you do is excellent! Great gifts you received. Thanks for the opportunity to win.ReplyDelete
Great gifts. The Grinch quilt is adorable.ReplyDelete
That bag is very sweet and I think your grinch quilt is a beauty!ReplyDelete
Love your little goodie bag gift and thanks for getting that recipe for us. Love your Grinch Mug Rug Collection formally known as a quilt. Great, great job. I have been making plain ole rectangular rice bags for years but this design is terrific, can't wait for the tut. Thanks. Oh and my best Grinch Christmas was the first year I was married. B went out and got me lots of wonderful gifts and put them in a 4 foot stocking. None of them were wrapped. Unwrapping is my favorite part. Well Christmas was really speedy that year cause I had grabbed the stocking by the toe and dumped all my gifts out at once.ReplyDelete
I'm just overwhelmed with all you did! I absolutely love the bag you received...and thank you for the link. The toffee is a recipe I make at Christmas so I'm thinking now I might need to make it for Thanksgiving. :) The mug rug is adorable and I think I must have that pattern! I have a lot of god memories of watching the Grinch with my children when they were little - gathering together with hot chocolate and cookies. And I know I have to make some of the sanitizer holders - I have one friend who is recovering from cancer and who is very diligent about carrying and using it. Love, love, love this post! blessings, marleneReplyDelete
What a grinchy idea. Love it. Merry Christmas.ReplyDelete
What a beautiful bag you received and candy, too...sweet! Nice of her to share the recipe. You never disappoint with your projects and you gave us same great gift ideas. I love the Grinch and you have me wanting to make those mug rugs (or quilt.)ReplyDelete
we lived in a tiny apartment when I was little. There wasn't much room to hide presents and my mom knew I was always searching. I was really excited about the new doll I was getting. Imagine my surprise Christmas morning when completely different presents were under the tree! Mom had switched presents with a friend who had a snoopy daughter as well!ReplyDelete
My worst Grinch moment was the morning that I awoke to realize that our move to another state meant that I would have Christmas without the 6 cousins I had spent all my Christmases with. Children and memories are what Christmas is about. Love all your projects and how lucky can you get..chocolate as a gift.ReplyDelete
Lovely projects - both made and received!ReplyDelete
When my eldest was about three, we bought an ornament for his dad and wrapped it up. (An annual ornament was a tradition my husband began our first Christmas together.) After my son put the gift under the tree, my husband asked him what it was. My son said he could not tell, because it was a secret. So, my husband tried a different tactic and asked, "When I open it up, what will I see?" My son replied, "A Grinch ornament." Then his little eyes grew wide, as he realized he told his secret. We laugh at the memory every year as the Grinch ornament goes on the tree.
Love love love your Grinch quilt!! I may have to make a mini of his hand and ornament just for myself!! Joan, thank you so much for sharing all of your projects ... I keep telling myself I've got to make one of those key chain holders ... perhaps Santa will stick one in my stocking this year! hehehehe Best good wishes to you for a fantastic day and a happy holiday season!ReplyDelete
So cute! Loved the Grinch mug rug. I think I am the Grinch at ChristmasReplyDelete
I love the Grinch quilt!!! Great idea.ReplyDelete
Your personalized bag is darling too.
I think I need to make one of those keychains to keep track of my keys once I drop them in my purse. The hand sanitizers are such a good idea.
Wonderful creations!! All would be great to receive!!ReplyDelete
Favorite Grinchy Christmas memory? Perhaps last year when all my son's converged at the middle son's house for Christmas an xxx we all ended up with the flu!
Grinch moment??? Hmmm, 2 years ago shortly before Christmas I was in the worst mood, everyone and everything was getting on my nerves. I was sitting in my chair doing some embroidery, my family was like "whatcha making, another Christmas wall hanging?", just teasing me but I wasn't in the mood. They were surprised when I hung it next to my chair and it said BAH HUMBUG in big letters. LOLReplyDelete
Love the gifts you received. Cute, practical and yummy. Doesn't get better than that. And thanks for the great gift ideas. I think the key holders and sanitizer holders are definitely going on the list. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your holidays.
I have no Grinchy moments unless you count me not putting up a Christmas tree unless family will be at our house....BUT I have to say that my Grinchy husband always surprises me by putting up all of our Holiday decorations without me asking! I go out to a meeting and come home and it's done! Thanks for all of the ideas...gotta go make some now... firstname.lastname@example.orgReplyDelete
Oh the Grinch project is so cute!ReplyDelete
The Grinch Quilt is adorable but much more than ONE day's work...!!! I am in love with your small gift projects, especially the key holder and sanitizer holder!!! I wish I had seen this before I mailed my gift package. You always inspire me!ReplyDelete
How cute, I love the grinch. The quilty throw is the cutest idea, why not twelve indeed. Thanks for sharing Brandy's recipe I'm making her Pb ball too. Her pouch is great for gift giving.ReplyDelete
Your post made me smile. Great quilt... I swear I married the Grinch, in the flesh. He would love that quilt. I may have to make up one for him. I honestly can't believe all you have gotten done! Great work Joan, lovely ideas as well. Hope you have a Merry Christmas this year! ~CoriReplyDelete
Great gift you received...and the candy..oh boy looks fab!ReplyDelete
I love your Grinch mug rug and then a whole quilt! Perfect! I love that cartoon and my fav part is little Cindy Lou Who cuz I was always called that! Hee, hee.
Gotta go check out some of the links you included. Especially the hand sanitizer one. I have a friend who never leaves home without some.
Oh wow what great gift ideas you have come up with. The key holders and hand sanitizer holder were adorable and very practical. I must say I really enjoyed your Grinch though. Oh, so cute.ReplyDelete
I could use the shoulder warmer right now! Might have to make myself one.ReplyDelete
What a cute bag and the quilting is so cheery! Thank you for the delicious recipe, can't wait to try it! As usual, Joan, you do not disappoint! Your Grinch quilt is wickedly cute. He's such a baddy, that Grinch. Can't think of any "grinch" moments in my childhood but my ex never allowed a Christmas tree in all the time we were together:(ReplyDelete
I go all out now though!
Thank you for the chance :D
all wonderful things. I really like that mug rug. so cute!ReplyDelete
The Grinch moments for me was my mom. No matter how creative we got at wrapping a gift she always guessed it. One year we even put her gift in a Cowboy boot. I love your mug rug and thanks for sharing the candy recipeReplyDelete
Great Grinch quilt! I look forward to the shoulder rice pad, I could use one now. Thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
Joan, I absolutely love all the things you made. The quilt is just adorable and who wouldn't love the Grinch when he is so cute. Love the bag you received too. I definitely want to make some of these.ReplyDelete
My Grinch moment happened when I was about 7 years old. I was determined to prove to my sister there was no Santa so we searched the house until we found our presents. Neither of us enjoyed our Christmas that year since we already knew what we were getting. Thank you for the chance to win this very cute mug rug.
I'm laughing at your grinch on the quilt. You always insert the unexpected. WonderfulReplyDelete
Grinch moment: power went ot. Had to cook hot dogs in the fireplace. That became our tradition and still do it!
Cute projects, wonderful quilt.ReplyDelete
True story. When I was about 8 years old and my sister 6, we were excited that our Dad was making a cradle. We just knew that cradle was going to be a Christmas present but alas it was for our baby brother! Love your quilt and thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
Great little project bag from Brandy, you'll love it! That little mug rug is so adorable, and your other little quickie gift ideas are wonderful! I'll tune in tomorrow for your rice neck warmer! But, oh, my, that Grinch quilt is the best, haha! Just darling.ReplyDelete
Oh my gosh, that is the best Grinch quilt ever! Thank you for the ideas, I really like the neck wrap, may have to whip some of those up for the people in my family who still have microwaves (we gave ours up in March, it was smelling like burning plastic).ReplyDelete
I love your Grinch quilt Joan!ReplyDelete
I've never seen anything 'Grinchy' here in the UK!
What cute projects! You always make such clever things -- love the key fobs! The project bag is fabulous -- what a practical idea!ReplyDelete
Joan, I love your Grinch quilt. So very cute. A great Grinch moment was I got a aqua wind suit for Christmas. It was never worn. Who likes the whoosh sound when you are a teenager. The sanitizers are such a good idea. We use it all the time. I need to make a couple of those. Brandy made such a cute gift for you. I love the card. Made me laugh. Have a joyous Holiday season. P.S. I waited for you to show up for Halloween, but sadly I had no trick or treaters.ReplyDelete
The Grinch usually never has time for me...but a mug rug would be just perfect.ReplyDelete
Love all of your projects, especially the quilt, and the gifts you received. Thanks for getting the recipe. I am going to use it for a candy exchange, I think. I would give the Grinch mug rug a good home, I promise. Can't really think of a Grinch moment except when we came downstairs one Christmas morning with our boys, ages 5 & 9 then, to find the Christmas tree laying in the middle of the living room floor. Apparently the dogs had been looking out the window and got caught in the garland on the tree. We tie it to the curtain rod now. Thanks for all the ideas and for the wonderful giveaway.ReplyDelete
My best grinchy memory is my late husband singing the song while we watched together as a family. I thought your quilt was darling as was your Grinch!ReplyDelete
Your gifties and Grinchies are so cute. No grinches here at Christmas. Your posts always make me smile ... thanks for sharing in the hop ... :) PatReplyDelete
I don't have a Grinch moment...I have a Grinch husband who doesn't like any holidays or birthdays or celebrations which is just sad...for I am still a child who believes in Santa and Magic! I adore each of your projects. Thank you sew very much for participating and swapping hopping. Creative T'Was the Night Bliss...ReplyDelete
No grinch moments here, thank goodness! I love your sweet (pun intended) gifts! Will be back to check out your tutorial,as I need one of thise shoulder rice bags.ReplyDelete
Die you use a pattern for the grinches hand,or just make it up?
Oh my! I love your Grinchy quilt!! I don't think I have any Grinchy memories, though we do watch that movie every year with our boys. It's one of our favourite traditions.ReplyDelete
You ALWAYS make me SMILE with your posts Joan! Love your Grinchies...oh gosh, so cute! Great key fobs...thanks for sharing the link.ReplyDelete
Maybe I will make a neck/shoulder thingee for moi...excellent idea! SWEET gift from Brandy, project bag and DISAPPEARING Toffee Crunch (LOL). I'm rambling again...trying to think of a 'grinch moment'... I'm sure there has been at least one... but I must have purged it from my brain. Thanks for the fun post!
wow what wonderful mug rugs and great quilt. Hmm I liked How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Still one of my favorites. great gift ideas. thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
That project bag went on my to do list along with the one for the hand sanitizer. Have a quilt to finish quilting then I can go to work on them. ThanksReplyDelete

Great ideas for gifts.I love the vinyl bag too. The grinch quilt is adorable.ReplyDelete
Every hop post I read from you is totally awesome. Sure, sure, I love your projects but the read always brings a smile to my face (I even enjoy your poetry!). Great gift ideas and I'm adding them to my ideas folder. Can't wait to see the tut tomorrow for the rice warmer - dear Santa, I'd love to get a rice warmer for my shoulders...ReplyDelete
The Grinch designs from the mug rug to the quilt are fabulous!
My Grinchy memories are of making lots of handmade gifts for the holidays - except - way too many weren't done and I had to take them back and finish them up after the gift giving!!!
You always make the most beautiful things and I always look forward to viewing what creative thing you have made for the hops. Blessings SandraReplyDelete
Love your Grinch! He looks awesome on the quilt, but could stand alone as well. Love mug rugs, and this is sew cute. Thanks for the candy recipe too. Merry ChristmasReplyDelete
For someone who fell off the wagon, you made a full recovery. Awesome quick gifts, especially the mug rug. I like how 12 more fell off onto the quilt. You also received some very nice things from Santa Brandy. The project bag is my favorite.ReplyDelete
Aww, Brandy spoiled you very nicely. Love your fast gift ideas and that Grinch quilt is over the top fun!!!! My Grinch moment, when I was a teenager and went caroling with a church group and came home to see my little brother having a great time opening all the gifts under the tree. Guess my mom and dad were enjoying the quiet and had no idea he had done it. It kinda was a bummer not getting to open my own gifts.. I still like him though. lolReplyDelete
Oh my, that Grinch ornament quilt is awesome! I love it. Everything is superb! Great gifts made and received!ReplyDelete
Love your Grinch mug rug and quilt. Can't wait to try that toffee recipe. My husband is a definite Grinch. He loves to put coal in everyone's stocking.ReplyDelete
That Grinch quilt is too cool for the holidays! Toffee, too yummy, hope you enjoyed it! Cute project ideas - thanks!ReplyDelete
I thought the Grinch mug rug was very cute but more is definitely better! I love the Grinch quilt! The only Grinchy moments I can think of are the ones spent enjoying the Grinch movie.ReplyDelete
Reading thru everyone's grinchy moments made me giggle my phone is being grinchy right now so I will post my moment when I get to the computer e.ReplyDelete
Such a lovely gift from Brandy! Yeah, the toffee wouldn't have last long around me either. ;) As for the Grinch moment... it wasn't me, but our 8 mth old German Shepard who "ruined" Christmas. I was 14 or so and I came home from school to find that our sweet puppy had chewed ALL of the Christmas lights off of the tree into 1 - 2 inch pieces. He then proceeded to find most of the fake apples that my mother had hung and ate them, leaving hot pink splotches all over the living room's NEW carpet (and his paws). To add insult to injury, he was quite happy with himself when he saw me, wagging his tail so hard his body shook. My mother was so made, so wouldn't look at him for days! Of course it didn't ruin Christmas since Christmas isn't about a tree and the decorations, but it sure has made for a fun story, even after all these years!ReplyDelete
ok I am back at the real computer- this morning my phone decided to type words in the wrong places and make up a few words so I was unable to share my Grinchy moment. When I was 7 and my sister was four, I decided to get up early and go downstairs for "a drink of water" when I got downstairs, (at 4AM) Mom and Daddy were at the kitchen table. Daddy asked if I wanted to open my presents. (well Duh DAd- Silly question) but I had to get Sissy up first- glass of water forgotten, I dsashed upstairs to wake up my sister- yeah right- she wasn't budging. I drug her out of bed and down the stairs (thump da thump da thump) By the time I got her to the bottom she was still not quite awake. She finally came to after a couple of gifts were unwrapped. to this day she does not wake up easy :)ReplyDelete
I think DH family voted me the grinchiest last year. I had surgery and after 4 weeks still was not feeling well, and so I told them I wasn't going to do Christmas. Oh my they are still complaining this year about it.ReplyDelete
What a clever idea to look for coloring book pages for your Grinch design on your quilt...thanks for that idea. I can't say I have ever been much of a Grinch at Christmas, although I remember stopping doing the laundry for my teenage boys when I had left a note to empty the dishwasher one summer day while I was working, only to find it was still full when I got home 8+ hours later! I still refuse to do their laundry now, even when they come home from college!ReplyDelete
Hi Joan! I can't remember if I posted to you, so I just decided to post anyway! Super ideas! I just LOVE the grinch mug rug! Of course the quilt is amazing but we can't count that (love it!!). So put your feet up now, like me, and just enjoy the rest of the hop! :)ReplyDelete
Oh those are all great ideas and I love your Grinchy projects.ReplyDelete
Wonderful gift you got, the quiting inside is beautiful!ReplyDelete
Your ideas for christmas gift are great too, thanks for sharing!
Lovely projects! Thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
A Grinch moment for my hubby was when his brother gave him a piece of coal for Christmas. This did happen! Love your Grinch mug rug.ReplyDelete
