Feeling Stronger Everyday!

Yep it's a new week and the sun is shining. I've got a brand new attitude!

Nobody say it better than "Chicago" in this
YouTube video.
It's a bit of a blast to the past, but I've long been a fan...
The fact that I was born on the outskirts of Chicago, and this video
was from 2006 "Chicago in the Rockies" where I live now, it was destine to be my new theme song!
:-)
Just hearing it in the background as I type makes me smile.

I'm on top of the world, because as the weeks tick by, I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.

My Bonnie Hunter "Tulip Fields" quilt top, is completely pieced.
It had been cut out, and the blocks were pieced already.
It only needed to be stitched together. I'm sure it wasn't pretty, but I did manage to get it done one handed!  Heck almost all of the seams matched up too, and for those that didn't, I've mastered the seam ripper with a broken hand!
:-)
There was a big up-side too...

When you have a cast on your arm, you never get those pesky,
steam burns as you iron. I'm sitting here wondering, just how I can capitalize on this concept!
Could I be a brand new entrepreneur???
Probably not, but it's fun to dream.
tee hee!!!

It'll be a bit before it gets quilted, but that's ok!

Have you heard the news?
Island Batik is keeping us busy this year.

This month the ambassadors are going to share
all kinds of fun "Mini" ideas!
As for me...my thinking cap is on!

Ohhhh, and have you seen these?
My friend JoAnn, loaned me hers.

Just like a paper cutter, but Fiskars made them for fabric.

The rotary blade is attached to the ruler and rides down this track.
The quilt shop uses them for kids day, so no one gets hurt.
What a life saver it's been to me!
I've been cutting 1 1/2" strips for my Wild and Goosey" blocks.
Whoo Hoo!

The quilt club girls liked it better than the June Taylor "Shape Cut"
ruler with the zillion slots. They felt that the 24" length made
 for more accurate cuts.

Everyone has their preferences and I definitely love this!
I'm getting one, for even when I'm not one handed.
;-)

Keep on stitchin!

  2. It is amazing how you adapt and adjust. I love minis, so look forward to this Island Batik hop - but you know I won't be using batiks.

  3. What an awesome attitude you have Joan. You make my day so much better just by reading your post. Your quilt is so beautiful. I love the colors and the design. I am really interested in that fabric cutter. I haven't seen it before. Is it new or already in stores?

  4. I'm impressed but knew that no silly broken bone was going to keep you from sewing for long.

  5. Necessity is the mother of invention and we quilters will do anything we possibly can to just keep on cutting and sewing that fabric back together again! Nothing, well almost nothing, can keep us from doing what is necessary to keep our creative juices flowing.
Good for you, and your beautiful quilt is the product of your determination and tenaciousness. I'm going to JoAnn's to see if they have that new cutting ruler. Thanks for sharing! lv2bquilting2@comcast.net

I was also interested to read what you said about the Fiskers ruler and cutter. That is definitely something to look out for. Love recommendations like that.
