Vintage Reimagined with "Island Batik" and Giveaway

*Post contains affiliate link*
There is nothing more fun that finding that vintage pattern that speaks to you,
and making it new again with fabulous batik fabrics.
That was just the challenge that "Island Batik" gave their ambassadors this month.
I picked this "Dresden" design.
I love "Hobbs" Thermore batting.
It  was perfect for this project.
This ultra thin batting is perfect for wall hangings,
when you want it to hang straight.
No more waving like a flag on a wall.
LOL!!

This is another of the fabulous projects in "Springtime Quilts" from
Quilters World.
Their version done in 30's prints, looks much different than my batik version.
Farrell, loves this batik version best, though!
Does he look familiar to anyone out there?
He is one of  "Xavier Roberts " original "Cabbage Patch" kids.
That's kind of a blast to the past isn't it?
Now that's really making it new again.
LOL!!

As an affiliate of Annie's Craft Store, they have made a fabulous offer to give away a copy of this magazine to "one" of my lucky followers.
I can't think of a better way to celebrate National Quilting day!
Leave me a comment telling me what your favorite Springtime Quilt is.

This giveaway will stay open until 12am on March 21st.

But if you just can't wait that long...
You can purchase it
 HERE
;-)

A big thanks to
and
til next time...
Keep on Stitchin'

  13. My favorite springtime quilt is one I made a couple of years ago in a QAL with #Ivory_Spring. I used fabric called Harmony Bright from QT fabrics. The bright colors, stars and trees are so welcome after a gloomy, rainy winter here in Mississippi. I do love your batik springtime quilt!

  15. I love any quilt with flowers for Spring. Farrel is cute! He reminds me of the "Furskins" my girls played with when they were little. They were smaller though, about 3 to 7 inches.

  16. My favorite spring quilt is a rainbow pattern my grandmother made. She hand quilted it & while the design is very simple, it stands out because of her beautiful stitches. It not only reminds me of her, but also spring flowers, warm sunrays, & returning colorful birds.

  19. Your reimagined version is wonderful. It is bright without being over the top for the pattern.
My favourite Springtime quilt pattern is a tulip pattern from Quiltmaker Magazine oh so many years ago. I got sick while making it so it took several years to complete. The name of my version: Late Spring. :)

  21. I love your Dresden Quilt......so bright and cheery. Island Batiks are the perfect fabrics for your version. My favorite springtime quilts are usually vintage floral, pastel, sweets like the Dresden or Double Wedding Ring. This year my favorite is a rainbow Hunter Star Quilt that I am working on using my treasured bits and scraps and various pieces of Island Batik fabrics (in between trying to get UFO’s and 4 urgent quilts; one for a new great grandson, and 3 (king, queen and throw sized) for a fundraiser next month for me DH’s treasured golf course.

  22. Well done finding the right pattern to update with your Batiks. Fantastic result. It does go to show how fabric can change the appearance of a quilt.
A springtime quilt? Maybe it is time I did something with flowers/baskets - that sort of thing.

  24. I also don't have a specific quilt pattern that I love for spring...for me it is all about the colors used that make a quilt "springy"! Your Dresden certainly is springy!!! Love the colors!

  28. I must say that I love the batik version the best too. I've always been a fan of color rather than the muted pastels.
