Rain Forest Fun Activity Mat with Thermoweb

Summer fun continues...

This is "Rain Forest Fun" Activity Mat.

 It brings new games to entertain inside if the weather is bad, or outside 

 for those summer picnics in the park.

The "Tic-Tac-Toe" board is complete with 10 Toucan beanbag markers.

The green stripes at the top and bottom, make a "cornhole" style game.

Hopscotch on Toucan Watch with Thermoweb

It's a cold rainy day, and the kids want to play...

Tickled Pink Blog Hop

 Happy post, Valentines Day! I do hope you all had a wonderful day filled with love. A big thanks to Carla, who knew just what the perfect theme was for this month! You do know how to rock the blog hop world and we "love" you for it.

My project this month is filled with "Minnie" LOVE!

Minnie Mouse, just seemed like the perfect "Pink" project. Well, at least for the moment. Have you heard that Minnie is getting a makeover?  You can read all about it HERE.

Nothing against Stella McCartney, but I am not a fan. Minnie has worn a red or pink dress for as long as I can remember and do we really need to update her with a pantsuit in blue polka dots!

 

Imagine my relief when I found out it was only temporary.

Getting back on track here...

Once again I turned to free clipart online for this project. You do need to remember, when using online clipart, not all is free. Some you must purchase, and some is for personal use only, so make sure you do your homework when using it. You don't want the clipart police knocking at your door! LOL!!

 I enlarged the clipart to print on 2 pages.

Then framed her with Rick Rack using the Accuquilt GO Rick Rack die HERE

It can be very challenging to stitch on black, especially when it's layered over black.  I've found that using a chalk marker along the edge can make it easier to see where you are going, when stitching it down. You can also go a step further in defining her legs afterwards, by straight stitching with a slightly contrasting thread.

Speaking of layering...Applique can get stiff when you add multiple layers.

I like to use HeatNBond®EZ Print Featherlite fusible web.

It allows for multiple layers, while still keeping your applique nice a soft.

You know how us quilters can be...

I had a vision in my head of what I was going to do and started adding sashings, but that Rick Rack started speaking to me, and took me in a completely different direction.

Using my Crafters Edge Alphabet dies found HERE, and a double layer of Rick Rack, was a fun way to finish off my "Tickled Pink" project, and a great reminder to listen to my inner voice sometimes.

 This pink polka dot fleece was perfect for the backing. I love using fleece on the back when I want a lightweight quilt. I don't add any batting or flannel when using fleece. It quilts like a dream and the quilting sinks into the loft of the fleece giving it great texture on the back.

This little "Minnie" quilt is for the little mini who stole my heart...

Yep, she is something else, and this "Nanas" dream!

Love Letters

Love is in the air, as we are just weeks away from Valentines day, and

this heart felt garden flag, is guaranteed to bring you lots of love!

Let it Snow...Cause there's Stitchin' to be Done

Snow...snow...did someone say snow?

I may not have been as excited about all the snow, but after last week when the wild fires destroyed almost 1000 homes in the metro area, I have definitely changed my mind on that subject.

Yes we finally got that desperately needed snow the next day, 

which made my snowman flag, oh so happy!

Thanks to Thermoweb, this guy will bring smiles to my garden all winter long.

Virtual Cookie Exchange

It's the most wonderful time of the year! 

Yes, the time I feel expansion in my rear!

There will be much miseltoeing and hearts will be glowing

and Carol will be drawing us near...

(With her Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange that is)

Can you hear me singing this song in your head? Don't blame me, it's Carols fault.

But lets face it, we all love it!

This year I have to share something I love as much as I do Carol,

 but it's not a cookie.

No, this year it's truffles.

Oreo truffles to be exact, and Oreos are cookies, so that counts. 

There are many recipes out there for them, and they are incredibly easy to make.

(this one even shares how to booze them up a bit with things like Kahlua, Baileys or Rumchata)

I have found it a must to freeze them, before coating in the chocolate. I let them freeze overnight. Throwing a little splash of peppermint extract into that chocolate makes them awesome, if you like pepperment! They must be refrigerated. I had to laugh when they said you could freeze them up to 3 months in a sealed container. Seriously...they are awesome frozen, so what makes you think they would last 3 months! LOL!! Give them a try, I guarantee they will be a hit!

To help me celebrate the season, and also someone I won't have to share my truffles with...

There is just something about the holidays that says gingerbread to me.

It's been years since I made a doll, but when I saw this pattern, I fell in love.

Inspector 12 was on duty during construction.

LOL!!

Every dolly needs a blankie...so with the help of "Crafter's Edge" she got her wish!
