I'd Be Lion...

I'd be lion if I didn't tell you I love this guy!

I needed a diversion from my normal stitching and "Larry the Lion" from 

"Funky Friend Factory" was a great way to play.

Maybe it was when I went looking for something and a ton of old furs and fleeces in my stash fell out of the cabinet. I bet this stuff is over 20 years old. 
It was definitely time to use it up.

I enlarged the pattern to 150% so this big guy is 18" tall and 17" wide. There is no way I could have used these fabrics in the original pattern size

My machine didn't love all those thick layers and my hands kept cramping while working on it, but it was so worth all the effort. 

I also used velvet from a dress I found at a thrift store years ago, for his nose and feet. 

While his nose is a little wonky, it just give him more personality!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. After all perfection is highly over-rated!

Larry was for "little man" but when you have a big sister who thinks everything is hers...

Well, she get a pink elephant!

This is "Georgie the Good Luck Elephant".

I also enlarged this one by 150%...it's my mission to use up stuff that I have here, so the biggest I can make, is best!  Oh, but all that stuffing and housing for all these big guys! Will that stop me... heck no, I have more friends waiting in line to be stitched!

Hoppy Easter

Just dropping in to wish you a hoppy happy Easter.

It's so much more fun, when you have a couple of grandies to spoil. 

Especially since one is now old enough, to really enjoy it.

It just had to be commemorated with a quilt...cause that's what we do, now isn't it?

LOL!!

This sweet 63" x 64" stash buster is "Hippity Hoppity"

 from "Angie Padilla Quilt Patterns". 

Nothing beats finding a use for those all the leftover fabrics from projects past.

Not that I really saw any sizable reduction in my stash.

Isn't that always the way?

There are so many adorable little critters in this quilt.

But I think my favorite has to be the bunny butt.

 After all...if you've got it, flaunt it, is my motto!

I used "Apricot Moon's Daisy Doodle" pantograph for the quilting. 

It was just met to go with those daisy's in the quilt.

Sweet Pea has been enjoying all week long.

Nana bunny has been busy stitching up these little guys as well. 

They are "Easter Bunny Buddies" from "Funky Friends Factory"

They will be delivering baskets to these little munchkins, in the morning!

This one just can't wait!

While we all love the fun part of Easter, 

we also remember the real meaning behind it.

Beary Merry Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature as stirring, bearly even a mouse

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care

In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds

While memories of their Papa danced in their heads

Mamma in her kerchief and I in my cap

Had just settled down for a long winters nap

When out on the lawn there rose such a clatter

I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter

Away to the window I flew like a flash

Tore open the shutter and threw up the sash

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below

When what to my wondering eyes should appear

But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer

Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen

On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen

To the top of the porch, to the top of the wall

Now dash away, dash away, dash away all

And then in a twinkling I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof

As I drew in my hand and was turning around

Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound

He was dressed all in fun from his head to his boot

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot

A bundle of Bears he had flung on his back...

This is the Christmas story of one family.

I had the pleasure this year to bring their Papa's memories back to life, using the

  "Buttons the Best Dressed Teddy Bear" pattern from the "Funky Friends Factory".

These memory bears came to life through his old flannel shirts and a fleece jacket.

The collar and button placket, that are incorporated into the bears, gave them so much character!

I love "Funky Friends Factory" patterns and there are so many different and downloadable, animals and "stuffies" to choose from. The patterns are very well written and many have additional photo tutorials, that helps make them easy to put together.
