Something to "crow" about!
This "Raven says Hello"!
Which happens to be the name of this fun little guy.
The pattern is from Cindy Shake Designs in Anchorage Alaska.
Then there are those trouble makers below!
(humble appologies for the photo quality, my house is torn up and
is no place big enough to hang it right now)
They say that birds of a feather flock together!
Yes, they sure do.
Specially these wild and wacky ones.
Trouble... each and every one of em.
Guess that's why they suggest they "NEVER" flock together
This wild and wacky quilt pattern was designed by 3 sisters in Colorado.
I borrowed the pattern and returned it before I noted the information on it. I have not been able to locate anything online either.
I used this pattern a few years back for a Halloween costume.
It's kind of fun to think outside the box
And scare the be-geebers out of everyone!
I just bought a new magazine the past weekend, with the cutest bird quilt in it.
Too bad there was just no time...
I'm thinking you all need to run out and grab up this magazine,
before it "flys" off the shelf!
A big round of applause might be in order, but all that noise would scare the birds away for sure. So a soft and gentle, heart felt thanks to 2 special gals.
Mary, from Ipiece2-Mary.blogspot.com, who has gathered this flock together and spent countess hours, on a wire making sure everything ran smoothly, and that wild and wacky Madame Samm, whom without, none of us would exist.
We love both you girls! You make the world a better place!
Give a way you say?
I have a two-fer for you.
I love the Wander 'N Roam pattern. Would it not just be too much fun, with bird silhouettes appliqued on top?
And the little cell phone case...why it's "Flying Geese" of course.
Leave me a comment, telling me how you have used a quilt pattern for something else.
You know we all learn thru each others ideas!
I will pick a winner tomorrow, the final day of the hop.
It all seems like it's over way too soon doesn't it?
Please make sure you stop by and visit my fellow bloggers today.
I know they are waiting with some adorable things to share.

My favorite birdie photo!
It's a little grainy, it had my telephoto lens at it's max
but isn't he beautiful?
Another one of those Alaska marvels!
Thanks for another fun post. Those birds of a feather do make up a very unusual flock together. I love the two lovey birds with the entwined necks. The owl photo is wonderful. You may be starting a new fashion accessory trend with that headgear. In response to your question .... I have used quilt block pattern designs to frost a cake ... does that count? :) PatReplyDelete
Very cute I love all the birds...great job.ReplyDelete
Love the wacky birds, you've chosen such great colours for them :)ReplyDelete
I often reduce block patterns right down to make pincushions.
You have done a wonderful job. Thank you for sharing with us. :)ReplyDelete
Nice job. Love the funny birds.ReplyDelete
I love your bird creations you did a great job. I am totally in love with your owl photo. That is amazing.ReplyDelete
Your quilt is too much fun! Love the whimsy feel of it all!ReplyDelete
Great projects. Love the birds of a feather one especially. I love bright & whimsical.ReplyDelete
Just love all those birds. They are so funny. Veryvery nice.ReplyDelete
You have one great imagination!!! I often take a pattern for a wall hanging or runner and turn it into a quilt....ReplyDelete
I love you wacky birds - great job!ReplyDelete
You and your quilts always make me smile. I like the raven with the batik border and those fun birds are humorous. I always change at least one thing when using a pattern. I add something or take something out or change something in the pattern for something else. I change the setting or the borders too.ReplyDelete
Hello back at your raven :) Love all your birdies today!ReplyDelete
Ohhh my dear Joan...I hesitate before I open your blog , always placing my coffee cup down first...lolReplyDelete
Listen your quilt and raven oh hhhh wow....how you had time to do all that , you sooo amaze me...the detail of this pattern is pretty humorous....as you are my dear
Love the Raven!!!! Your bird quilt is so adorable!!ReplyDelete
Love the quilt as it looks like your sense of humor. Only you would wear a chicken hat for the blog photo! HMMM how have a repurposed a quilt pattern? The motif into a tote but mostly scaling down the design to make a pro bono quilt since I do a lot of them and have since 1999. THX for the opportunity for your giveaway.ReplyDelete
Absolutely precious !ReplyDelete
Your quilt is so fun, just like you. Thank you for sharing your creativity and being part of this hopReplyDelete
love your birds of a feather quilt and don't worry about not having room to hang for good picture I wouldn't have room ever to hang a quilt for a picture. my dream one day is a nice sewing spot and let me tell you it is only in my dreams..love this dream to come true. maybe in another life time. ;PReplyDelete
love your quilt. thanks for sharing
I took the center of my helix pattern and made a smaller square for a designed quiltbag, and I used log cabin blogs cut in quarters and pieced together differently as a magic pillow case where you don't find the beginning or the end.ReplyDelete
Those birds are just too funny and so cute...they all have such personality! I love that quilt! Since I'm so bad at following quilt patterns, I almost always end up doing something different with the pattern. :O) P.S. The owl in your photo is so beautiful.ReplyDelete
The birds flocking together quilt is AWESOME!! hilarious. is that raw edge applique or turn under?- count me out of the giveawayReplyDelete
Wonderful quilty birds. I was so glad to see them all. I have the quilt sampler magazine and saw that bird quilt too. I need to make it, it is just so cute.ReplyDelete
The most different thing I have done with a quilt pattern was shrink the block and make it into a mug rug.
Your birds are all adorable - great job! I love the owl photo you captured, too.ReplyDelete
What a wonderful job you did on the birds!!! I love the whimsical quilt and all of the great colors.ReplyDelete
What a wonderful quilt! As for using a quilt pattern for something else, I've used blocks on bags, etc., or used quilt block designs to help teach a little geometry here and there. Thanks for sharing your projects! email@example.comReplyDelete
Just amazing! I love your colors choice. Thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
Cute birds! I wish I had your imagination. My twist to a pattern is to add some type of embroidery or Redwork. It was mentioned earlier to make a block into a mug rug. I think that is the best way to try a new technique before you waste your time or money on a large quilt. So many times we start a quilt, get frustrated (or bored) and end up with a UFO. And then the guilt feelings kick in....know what I mean?ReplyDelete
Loved all your birds but the bird hat takes the cake.ReplyDelete
Great Raven! Those other birds are just fun!!!! Bet it was fun gathering the fabrics for that one!ReplyDelete
I usually follow the pattern for the item...unless I discover I don't like it then there are placemats, hot pads and such made:)
The Raven ROCKS!!!! And the comic relief of the quilt birds had me giggling! You did a great job and thank you for sharing them with us. I like to plan for flower garden in a quilt block design and at one house we used a quilt block to designed our patio in pavers.ReplyDelete
I love your bird quilt, it looks so complicated, you did a wonderful job.ReplyDelete
The raven is very nice! I love all the wild birdies.ReplyDelete
You had me with the raven! Then the Birds of a Feather appeared, oh how fun is this?! I love the expression of the flamingo ;D Fabulous job, again you never disappoint us!ReplyDelete
Love those colorful wild and wacky birds!! My kind of applique!! The owl is magnificent perched in his tree surveying his domain.ReplyDelete
The rabin is wonderful. Like the bird quilt too. Great job on both. Thank you so much for being part of this hop.ReplyDelete
You do have something to crow about! Such playful, colourful birds.ReplyDelete
Love your crazy bird quilt! Your hat is cute too. Thank you for sharing.ReplyDelete
fun and funky birds there!ReplyDelete
I love all your birds. Thanks for sharing. The one quilt that I absolutely HATED I used as a dust rag. Then I threw it away!(I never even finished the top)ReplyDelete
What a marvelous collection of feathered friends. One just a tad quirkier than the next.ReplyDelete
Love the whimsical birds. They are terrific.ReplyDelete
I'm new to quilting, but have used a part of a pattern to make a mini quilt.
Thanks for the chance to win.
I love the crow, I love the birds, I love your post (silly woman!), I love what you do when your are making quilts: you make me smile and leave me inspired. Thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
I was flipping through the magazine at the grocery store and never even saw the bird quilt -- thanks for pointing it out!ReplyDelete
Love your birds!!!! And that is a GREAT quilt pattern!!!ReplyDelete
I don't usually make wall qulits, but they have some of the cutest patterns, so i enlarge them to make into a baby or lap quilt!!!!
Love that raven especially! I use quilt patterns, or inspirations from quilt patterns for all my potholders and some of my bags. I'm too lazy so far to get many quilts done, although I seem to have energy enough to start too many, lol!ReplyDelete
Your wacky birds made such a cute, cute quilt. I love it. I have used quilt patterns for jackets and for pot holders besides the traditional. Of course, now for purses--that seems to be the rage.ReplyDelete
I loved all of the raven patterns when we visited quilt shops in Alaska last spring--yours turned out great!
I love your birdies :)ReplyDelete
I just the other day took a few stray (ones I didn't like) 12" blocks I made from a BOM and cut them down and re-pieced some to make a backing for some potholders. Now I REALLY like them. The fronts were simple redwork like panel pieces but in brown, blue or red. Thanks for letting me share
I love using patchwork for bags. Love your birds. That hat is priceless.ReplyDelete
Love all the wacky birds....and they look great flocking together! Thanks for sharing!ReplyDelete

I have made a quilt pattern into pillow. Like your Raven.ReplyDelete
The owl is gorgeous. But...I have never seen so many crazy birds in one place - including the one who has a chicken on her head!!! lol Truly, an outstanding quilt. Don't think I've used a pattern for something else - at least, I can't remember doing it.ReplyDelete
Your birdie quilt is a joy! And WOW! Lovely owl photo.ReplyDelete
I love your quilts! Especially the raven. When I lived in Alaska the ravens and magpies were my favorite birds. So smart and so mischievous! I actually would have liked a raven for a pet, but I think that would have been frowned on :) usagypsy(at)hotmail(dot)comReplyDelete
Your birds are all fabulous!!! You are always so creative :) I have used a quilt pattern for pillows, apron bibs/pockets and tote bags. Oh, mug rugs too!!ReplyDelete
Oh, my! Your birds are fabulous!!!ReplyDelete
