For the Boys Blog Hop

I am sure that Madame Samm and Amy had no idea what they were
getting into when they came up with this "For the Boys" blog hop. You know, it was a stroke of genius for all us moms, who have no little girls.
After all blog world is full of fun and frilly little girly things. But what about those boys?  Thanks to you two, for all you do, and did for the "little guys" who want their own piece of the action!   :-)

                   Boys will be boys...
No matter what size they are!

Did anyone else have to deal with this in their house?
Tough work making a mess all day!
A mess that "guess who" got to clean up. :-)
Those were the days, oh so many years ago.
Not much has changed. No matter how big, they are little monsters for life!
LOL!!
(so a commemorative quilt was in order)

Monster Mash
Another of my favorite Quiltery Quilts.
It just captured the true essence of my little monsters!

Let's take a closer look and you'll see why...

Emerald Mancer,  Don't let that sweet face fool you...There is trouble brewin'!

****************

                                            Wrechiller,
the very same look on both their faces!

******************

Gipabi... You decide who is the biggest troublemaker!

*****************

Gisix ...we have just arrived from the planet Crayon

****************

Dinovore, I just might eat him for lunch!

****************

Nanovore, need say more!

***************

Bodin, not to be confused with forbodin!

****************

Vortex,
I wonder just how far, I can send him?

****************

Gorlum... Innocent, sminnocent!
Nuff said

****************

   Yep, them were my boys.
I can't believe it was almost 30 years ago!
Or for that matter, that I lived to tell about it!
 ;-)  (wink wink)

So in memory of that monstrous bunch, I think a give a way is in order...
This one is definitely not for the little boys in your life!
LOL!!

This is more for the mom who survived it all, or is in the process of survival!
You all know what I mean!  :-)
 An oversized fat quarter.
Just in time for the holidays!
:-)
Leave me a comment, telling me about the joys of boys,
and I will pick a winner tomorrow, the last day of our hop!
Til then
Make sure you stop in and visit my fellow bloggers. They have some fun projects to share.
Once again a big round of applause to Amy and Madame Samm, for showing us the way...
to give those little men in our lives, something special of their very own!
November 14th

This post has been approved by the "Republic of Chao" Party!
and the mother who survived it!
:-)

Now completely off subject. It's been brought to my attention that I am now a no reply blogger??? Really after how many years. I can't seem to make Google + play nice so I have reverted back to the old Google format. Please let me know if you see anything strange with my posts or comments.
Thanks so much Daryl for letting me know!

  3. Mwahahaha! That fabric is hilarious! I've only got one boy (12) and his dad (acts 12 some days) and a male dog (the best behaved of the bunch). I'm the only estrogen producer in a testosterone fuelled home

  4. There were times my two boys felt like twenty were in the house! I survived it, and now the grandsons - well I can send them home.

  5. What a great job of all that applique you have done! Those monsters are crazy good! I have one girl and one boy. And they are both a joy! Maybe they need to be in a herd of their own kind to get crazy?

  6. I only had 1 boy of my own but the house was always full of them, weekends I had up to a dozen sleeping over. Most are still close and I have a stack of God Children, some of these have little boys now and history is repeating itself.

  20. I just love your monster quilt. I had 2 daughters so I didn't have the joy of raising boys UNTIL NOW......I have 2 grandsons that are giving me a good taste of what boys can do. I think the difference in the noise level is what gets to me the most - they sure are loud

  21. Loved the photos of the boys...I had a couch just like that !! Cute, Cute quilt Joan !

  23. As my Mother-in-law confided in me, boys need to be buried from the age of 12 to 18 and only then are they fit to rejoin the world. She had four! There were times when I agreed, like when the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night during one of my son's sleepovers! The boys were making pizza!!

  24. Beautiful! I knew you would have something great. I enjoyed reading your blog, seeing the pictures. Thank you!

  25. Oh, Joan! Your boys were so adorable! You can't imagine the memories this brings back to me! I raised three sons. I think the biggest joy of raising sons is seeing them grow into wonderful young men! (Mine are so protective of me, it's really sweet!)
Your monster quilt would have been a huge hit with my sons! It's precious!

  27. Your post was so entertaining and the quilt is perfect for the boys. My boy was great at making messes, too. My girl was too, though. Kids in general are the best things life has to offer, but with boys, there is never a dull moment. Thanks for the giveaway. When I made it to that fabric it made me giggle.

  33. I didn't have boys, only a girl. But my daughter just called asking me for three MORE boy baby quilts. Her clutch of 8 friends either have had or are in the process of having ONLY BOYS!!! This was a challenge for me, since I have only thought in GIRL terms for nearly 30 years!

I am loving this blog hop!

  34. This is such a fun blog post. Thanks for making me laugh today. I am the mom to two adult daughters and there is finally a grandson in the picture. I can already see the difference between the girls and boys, but it is really fun to see. I just have to be careful to not laugh too loudly when my daughter is trying to discipline anyone. :-) Thanks for sharing your creation with us today!

  35. I married too late to have any children but my husband has an young adult grandson and I have several nephews. When his son and DIL needed a sitter, we often would watch the grandson. I still laugh about him telling his grandpa that he was not going to be his friend anymore because he wouldn't let him play with some toy. Josh is appalled that he ever said that now. What an adorable quilt and what fun seeing the pics of your two little "monsters" I wonder how far I can send him?? How far DID he or did you stop him first?

  38. I have an adult special needs son age 20. He never got into the stuff like other boys. Now my girl age 14 was quiet the tomboy who preceded to tun into quiet the beauty who is a total girls girl. My brother was a horror. Total boy and still is. He put my mom though the mill he found baby mice and put them in a empty 2 liter soda bottle and brought them in the house put it under his bead my mom found it the next day and to her horror discovered holes where the Lil boogers chewed out. She was some kinda upset over that one but I do believe her biggest scares this.. She was cleaning out the deep freezers. We used to grow and put up about 90 percent of our food. She discovered medicine pill bottles in the freezer at the back she thawed them out then proceeded to dump them out in the kitchen sink to figure out what they were. He had baby snakes he had caught and frozen. My poor mom almost had total heartt failure over that one.

  39. I have a son and a daughter. The thing that I can definitely say about raising my son is that he taught me how to be patient!

  40. Love the quilt. I have 2 sons also, four years apart in age. It has always been what one didn't think of the other did. We have gone from mini bikes to dirt bikes to mud trucks and motorcyles. Now it seems to be 4 wheelers. They are both in their 30s, but I don't believe they will ever grow up entirely. Guess I really don't want them to. Thanks for the great giveaway. Love that fabric.

  41. Very funny, Joan, and way too cute--both the quilt and the boys. I raised two boys and now I am surrounded by grandsons. No girly girls around here. But no matter what they do or don't do for that matter, they can still give me one of their smiles and make my heart melt. Thanks for sharing and making my day.

  42. Your quilt, of course, is gorgeous. Leave it to you. But the boys in the pictures are real honeys I can tell. Those were the best days for sure.

  43. Oh, I could tell you the joys (and woes) of boys for hours. I had my son first and that's all I ever wanted. I had lots of female issues and wanted no more children. I had even been to the gynecologist and was on the way to the hospital for surgery the next day. I saw my husband actually in tears. So, I put it off and with fertility pills (no IVF then) I got pregnant three months later. I've always thought (since I was charting my whole life) that I lost another baby the month before I got pregnant again. So, God had other plans and I have a daughter, too. Just because I was so ill that I didn't want another child doesn't mean that I don't love and adore her as much as her older brother. Now, she has two adorable boys (7 and 2). My son has a 7 year old son (he'll be 8 on the 25th). I love when I tell people I have three grandsons - like two seven year olds and a 2 year old. Are the 7 year olds twins? I laugh - one is my son's and one is my daughter's, so I sure hope not. One is half Hispanic and we are not. One is husky and one is skinny, skiiny, skinny. So, knowing what I know, I always chuckle. Now, we are eagerly awaiting DNA results to see if a precious 4 month old girl is my son's. I'm excited to think about sewing pink (even though for a time PINK was the fav color of one of the older boys) and lacy, frilly things. We are all resigned to letting God be in control and helping us with any decisions that need to be made based on the results. We should know later this week or early next. I love the quilt. Now, who gets blessed with that quilt/ I have an applique pattern and all the fabrics for a quilt. Of course, at the time I only ordered one kit. I think I know where lots of fabric lives and also where the LQS are and also how to shop online. Thanks for a wonderful project and bringing up so many wonderful memories. I loved your pictorial parade. And, the giveaway fabric is dynamite.

  50. An awesome quilt...it is all boy for sure!! I was blessed with 2 boys...they were born 3 years apart...they have always been best friends...I can't remember every having to break up a fight...they got along well...they were both involved in sports...and love to watch spots now...they would be 'old timers' now. It is hard to believe my kids are 40 and 37. Thanks for sharing!
