Giving Thanks Blog Hop

To visit my fellow bloggers!

It's that wonderful time of year, when we take a moment or two to really think about the good things in life.
What better time than Thanksgiving time.  Thank you Michelle for bringing us all together to celebrate a wonderful time of the year!

Here is the USA, fall is upon us. Leaves have fallen in my part of the country, and the warm reds and yellows are changing to brown. But it all makes me warm and fuzzy...

I would like to share my warm and fuzzy color log cabin quilt with you. It's called "Autumn at the Cabin". It was the shop hop quilt in 2010 for the Central Kansas Quilt shops.

I love the cream color background fabric. It was a specialty fabric that Hoffman made just for their hop.  All the names of the cities that participated in the hop were on it.  How cool is that?

I fell in love with this quilt, when I saw it hanging in the Quilting Bee in Salina Kansas. I was lucky enough to visit them during a Quilt Shop Bus Tour that took in 3 states, back in 2010. I can't tell you just how much fun that trip was!  :-)

This shop did a little damage to my credit card!
LOL!!

You can surely see why!
See the quilt that caught my eye, hanging in the classroom photo above?

I've always loved a log cabin... but couple that with my favorite fusible applique, and I can't help but fall in love.

The Quilting Bee was so kind, to ship me the kit once the fabrics arrived in their store. But there were 9 other shops involved. I didn't get fabrics from each of them. I shopped my stash instead. I do, so love being able to shop the stash, when I can!

This quilt was so fast and fun to put together, that I am asking myself, just why did it take you 3 years to open the package???  Oh that endless bag of PIGS (projects in grocery sacks).   But I am please to say, I checked off another one of em!

                                                           :-)

I can't tell you, just how thankful I am, for you!   Each and every one of you, who have read and supported my blog for 5 years now.  I started blogging to encourage myself to finish up those PIGS, that I have.  While it probably hasn't been as successful on that front, cause you all keep finding me new things to try.  Yeah, you know who you are. All of you, who share their patterns, quilt-a-longs, stitcheries, tips and tricks. I can't get enough of it all.   So much so, that my PIGS have a hard time fighting their way out of that sack!   LOL!!  But you know I love it! I've made so many wonderful friends in blogland, too.

Have you ever sat and thought about blogging?  It's the one place were we come to meet others with like interests. We take all the other peripheral "stuff "out of the equation, and make friends based on our love of whatever we blog about. Sharing is rampant and support unlike anywhere else I've been. I may not know your face, or where or how you live, but I do know, I love what you have to share and have taught me. Humility is the word that comes to mind. The definition of it is "the state of being humble and free from pride".  I can honestly say, you all humble me every day with your endless encouragement and inspiration.  Pride...  I fall down when it comes to that. I wear my pride of being a part of you, on my sleeve, for all to see!  And I won't apologize for that!  :-)

So what I really have to be thankful about this season, is the fact I am starting my 6th year blogging. You have helped me grow to having 700 Google followers and 374 Bloglovin followers (and counting). Email followers... whew, who knew!

If your new to my blog, welcome.  My goal is to inspire and entertain you down this crazy quilting road we all seam to love to travel!  I'd love for you to join me!  I promise a raucous fun time along the way.
                                                          ***
Along the way...lets have a give a way, wadda say?  (I'm such a poet)   NOT!   tee hee

A 1 yard piece of this wonderful Thanksgiving fabric.
And a few secret goodies!
:-)

You can see what I did with this fabric last year.

Leave me a comment telling me about why you love blogging.  Please make sure your are not a no reply blogger. On Tuesday Nov. 26th, I will pick a winner!

Remember I promised a raucous time!
:-)

Just so you know, I am in the process of a garden remodel.
I will soon have an outhouse (not a real one) with a deck and some rocking chairs
Toilets are going to be turned into planters. And we will be able to sit along the pond.
Bringing out the redneck in me!  LOL!!
What will the neighbors think?
:-)
Happy Thanksgiving.
You might consider being happy your not my neighbor!
hahahahahaha

  2. For a minute there I was hoping you were going to give me that beautiful quilt. Isn't it great to share your works with others. I started my blog so I could share with family and friends never realizing I could make so many more friends.

  4. I think you are right about bloggers seeming to be neighbors. I've followed quite a while. When google reader went away, I moved to RSS feed. I also do Bloglovin - I didn't know which to pick, but RSS is my usual one. Thanks for 5 years of good reading and eye candy!

  9. I love your log cabin quilt! The applique on the front is a great idea and I've never seen that on a log cabin before. I love reading blogs, learning from them and being inspired by them. One of these days I'll feel like I have enough time to write one, but right now I just don't. Thanks for the giveaway.

  12. Who cares what the neighbors think - if you love it I say go for it. :) It's a beautiful quilt so I can sure see why it caught your eye. I started blogging several years ago when I had a TIA and an upcoming mission trip was cancelled for me. I was at home along...hubby had gone on the trip....and my daughter suggested I find some quilting blogs to read. I'm sure she knew I would be hooked! blessings, marlene

  13. It's just as you said, Joan - a place to meet others with the same interest. Bloggers are so interesting, so helpful, so inspiring! This is my fifth year of blogging also and I've enjoyed it very much. Love your log cabin quilt - I'm nuts about applique and piecing together in one quilt. Thanks for the chance!

  16. Beautiful quilt! I like blogging because it helps me journal more regularly than I might otherwise. It's fun for me to look back at what I've done (or not done) as the years go by. :)

  17. the quilt is stellar congrats on the finish. I have followed you for some time now and it's been a hoot. My favorite part about blogging is the distances we travel on line. I now have friends all over the US and Canada and as far away as Australia. I currently live in NJ but we have purchased a house in FL to retire to. I met a gal from my new neighborhood who was following the same blog as I was. Blogging makes for a very small world.

  18. I love your log cabin quilt too. Blogging helps me see the world outside of where I am--it opens the world.

  20. Blogging actually helps me create more and use all the fabric I purchase. I like to be able to show my relatives and friends what I am working on. When I see I have gone too many days without posting I know I better find time to get back at the machine.

  21. Your log cabin finish is gorgeous! Just love all those fall colors :-) I'm a pretty new follower plus I live in Scotland so if you don't include me in your giveaway I totally understand. I read blogs more than I post on my own but Blogland has introduced me to a wonderful community of talented crafters (like yourself ;-) ). I find so much inspiration online, just wish I could find a way to add enough hours to the day to make everything! Happy Thanksgiving! Helen

  22. Great quilt..... I'm so glad you got it finished! I love blogging for the inspiration and support of other bloggers. There is always someone out there to push me along to try new things and to share what I'm working on. Quilting can be kind of isolating and blogging opens up my home to others. Thanks for the giveaway!

I started blogging as a journal, but it has extended well beyond that - frienships, inspiration, education, a new community of family.

In the past year that I#ve been blogging I made a bunch of new friends and noticed that people are extremely encouraging and it's not bad to show your mistakes because we all make them.
Also, a lot of times, things that you see yourself as mistake, won't be recognized as such by others.

But of course once I started I kind of got addicted to getting new followers that I didn't know IRL, its just really fun to meet new people from all over with like interests!

  73. I think your log cabin quilt is beautiful. I have to tell you a true story. There was a couple in my church and when the wife found out she didn't have long to live, unbeknownst to her husband she had ordered a flower arrangement to be sent to the funeral home and had it sent in a vase that was a replica of a toilet. It apparently was a running joke with them.

I don't blog a lot, but I do chat a lot on facebook and on other people's blogs! It's about time for me to get to bed. I am following you on Bloglovin' and look forward with chatting with you again! 79. I read blogs for a long time before I launched into one myself early this year. I am still learning the tricks of the trade, and quite enjoy it. I love just putting my ideas down, my thoughts and my triumphs. I don't really know how many people actually read my posts, and I only have a few followers, so its pretty easy just to ramble on with what I am up to. It still feels a bit anonymous.
Love you log cabin. The very first quilt I made was a log cabin, and I haven't got around to making another. Maybe that should be a project for next year.
