Creative New Quilts and Projects Blog Hop

Welcome to our Creative New Quilts and Projects
blog hop.

You've heard the buzz...
Wendy Sheppard and Landauer Publishing
have teamed up to bring us a great new book.
It's a must have, for our libraries...
Island Batik and my fellow ambassadors
have come together to show you just how fabulous,
the projects are!
;-)

I know Wendy was speaking directly to my heart,
when she created this project!

Care For A Cuppa!

My day doesn't start without a cuppa...
OH who am I kidding? It's more like the entire pot!
LOL!!

Grab your favorite cuppa and join me.
***
For my version, I chose to go with "Island Batik"

Don't you just love these rich colors?

There is just something about the way they package their fabrics.
This "Stack" (10" squares) make my mouth water!

Care For A Cuppa MooseStash style!
:-)
I have to tell you, I'm in love with this quilt pattern!
The directions were clear and easy to follow.
This book is great for those who love to collect
those fabulous precuts, but doesn't limit you to them.
There are directions for cutting from your stash as well.
The projects are great for quilters of all levels.

I do have to give a little "shout out"and a big thanks to my friend
JoAnn, who lives 2 hrs away. I finished piecing this the day before
 I broke my wrist.
Getting it quilted was just not going to happen...
She made 2 trips to my house to get it finished for me.
She quilted it then realized that there was no way I would be
able to bind it, so back she came for binding fabric.
Yes, the postal service would have worked, but then I wouldn't
get to see her smiling face!
:-)

The quilting is so much fun.
She really knows how to play.

"SEW" if your loving this book as much as I do...
I've got 3 ways you can get your very own copy.

You can purchase it right

or
if you can't wait for it to be delivered, you can
purchase a PDF download of it right

or
if you would like a signed copy, you can email Wendy at

Thanks to Landauer Publishing, I get to give away a book
to one lucky person who leaves a comment on this post.
Tell me if your a "precut" collector or if you prefer
to cut your own, and where you live.
I will be picking my winner Friday March 25,
the last day of the hop.

For this one, you must live in the USA.
This book will be drop shipped, directly from Landauer.
We must be able to reach you.
Check to see if your a no-reply blogger.
;-)

Thanks so much to Wendy Sheppard,

and all of my fabulous readers.
Without all of you, there would be no

:-)

Make sure you visit all of my fellow hoppers.
They do have some luscious eye candy and inspiration to share!

  1. What a great looking wall hanging! I am somewhat of a coffee snob and buy our coffee beans which we grind each morning direct from the roaster in MN. So, yep, this wall hanging definitely speaks to me. You did a beautiful job on yours and the quilting is great as well.

I love the colors you used in yours alot given the fact anything purple-ish calls to me.
Hmmmmm am I a precut collector? Oh yea! That is an understatement actually. I have way too many precuts, but I have admitted a problem to myself with that fact so I am not buying as much as I used to. Of course, the fact I grew out of the space in my sewing room into another spare bedroom in our house just MIGHT have something to do with that admission. haha When you see a collection that calls your name, however I feel you should answer that call and it MUST come to your home to visit awhile. (I said I admitted to a possible problem, not that I went to therapy to stop it)

You are so very lucky to have a great friend like JoAnn! Just having a sewing/quilting buddy that close has to be great fun and to have her come spend time helping you out was wonderful for both of you, I'm sure. I'm sorry about your wrist. That can't be much fun, but I bet you'll figure out a way to get around that and still do some sewing. I hope it wasn't a really bad break and the cast won't be on too long.

Have a great day! Are you celebrating St Patrick's Day with a nice dinner at home (of course, you have an excuse for not cooking ;) ) or going out to eat some corned beef and cabbage? This is the meal I look forward to all year so I'll be simmering our dinner most of the afternoon and smelling it as it cooks. YUM!

  2. Coffee! My day begins with a cappuchino! I am even more of a coffee snob! My husband buys beans and roasts them himself! I am very spoiled! Love this hanging! It would be perfect in my kitchen! I like fat quarters then I can cut what I need! But I do admit to buying layer cakes! After all cake and coffee go together! 😀

    ReplyDelete
  3. Wonderful quilt. Love your fabric selection. Congrats to both you and JoAnn for this finish.
Think I need a coffee right now!!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. A pattern that should start my day. I prefer to cut my own, but love the fabrics you chose for this. Great friend deserves notice to do the completion.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I do like to buy pre-cuts but then they are sew cute all put together that I can't make myself cut into them so I pull fabric out of stash, cut it up and then make my projects with that fabric. LOL I love your project. It would be sew pretty in our coffee area. Thanks for the wonderful give away and the pretty inspiration.

  6. I have both Wendy's books and just love them....AND HER!!! I prefer pre-cuts for the convenience but rarely buy them because of the cost....I try to cut from my stash when possible.

    ReplyDelete
  7. This is such a great book and I love the way yours looks created out of the beautiful batiks! Your friend did a wonderful job quilting it for you, thanks for sharing Joan!

  8. I have been quilting 1 1/2 years and love the precuts! I still need all the help I can get in cutting.

  9. Even though I don't drink coffee, I love the aroma of it, especially when we are in a store that lets you grind your own, and carries a huge variety of flavored coffees. Walking down that aisle is heaven, and I breathe in all those beautiful aromas, but drinking it is another story. I just can't stand the taste of it, and figure, since I am 80, won't be changing my mind any time soon.

I do love your mini quilt though, with all those beautiful batik cups of steaming coffee. There are several family members who would love to have that mini quilt, or maybe just a mug rug, which would be more doable, since I would be making about 7 or 8 of them. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity and happy to hear you are now 'cast free'!

  10. I live in northern Wisconsin. All our snow was gone until I opened the curtains this morning - 2 inches of beautiful, fluffy, white snow on the ground. Sew pretty. Island Batiks are pretty too! I prefer yardage but use precuts when a pattern calls for them.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm a precut collector and I live in Republic, MO. Thanks for such a fun giveaway! ezaccess5@aol dot com

    ReplyDelete
  12. Your mini is so cute. I don't drink that much coffee but this made me get up and make a cup. As far as pre cuts or not I use both. If I have the fabrics and no precuts that are right I just cut what I need but I have to admit that I have a stash of layer cakes, charms, jelly rolls and FQ bundles. Guess I'm an equal opportunity fabric collector.

I live in a small town about 50 miles south of Kansas City. Just far enough to be in the country but close enough to the city. Best of both worlds. Rina

  16. Love this! I use pre cuts but have lots of scraps from my dressmaking projects also x

  17. I like both precuts and my stash of fabric. I really like your espresso quilt I don't drink coffee myself but my husband loves it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That is a fabulous finish - by both of you!!! ;-) It is nice to have such great friends. I love precuts and tend to collect more than I use.

I hope your wrist is continuing to improve and that you will soon be back to your own quilting.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I do both. Precuts are pre-collected! But cutting a quilt from stash is so economical!

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is so cute, would make a great gift for a certain friend of mine too. I actually use both, but I always but precuts when I can get a great price. As far as where I live, that would be in the beautiful hills of Louisville, Kentucky on a small scrappy farm. Would not want to live anywhere else. Thank your friend for me so you were able to get your mini done. Would not want to have missed it.

  21. I like precuts because they give you all the prints from a whole line. Even though I don't always like every print, when you mix them all together, it still works!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Those fabrics are luscious! Beautiful quilt!! How did you break your wrist? My stash has lots of both! Sometimes a package of precut just sings to me the way all of the fabrics how together. Charm packs are especially dangerous because I think, "I don't need any more fabric but it's just $10 and won't take up too much space! "

    ReplyDelete
  23. What a fun quilt! I have some precuts but mostly cut my own strips.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Your fabric choice is fabulous! Your quilt is lovely! I have a mixed of precuts and yardage. I like mixing it up but most often cut my own from my stash.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am becoming more excited about this book every day. I have just the spot in my kitchen for a smaller version of this quilt. I've bought some precuts but also cut a lot of my own.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love your fabric and color choices.

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOVE YOUR PROJECTS!I LIKE BOTH USING PRECUTS AND YARDAGE! PRECUTS DO SPEED UP SEWING. THANKS FOR SHARING! msstitcher1214@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  28. I adore pre cuts and I've got quite a collection right now.

    ReplyDelete
  29. great quilt! it was 2nd on my list too.... I would have given it to my mom, who drinks a lot of coffee, I'm sure that's all she drinks- she thinks the water in it, counts as water- which it doesn't... hubby and I have to have coffee in the morning too, he's a coffee snob too and grinds his own, then french press and double filter it and leaves me about a cup of it which I make into iced coffee (not lately I've had to switch to almond milk because Anja was gassy/ colicky) then in the afternoon I make a cup of instant cappucino, might switch to something colder now that the weather is getting warmer. oh and our coffee has to be this organic kind from costco :P

    ReplyDelete
  30. Love the colors you used! I used to buy yardage and go from there since I also sew some clothing for my daughter, but I have become quite a fan of precuts (they look so pretty all bundled together!). Thank you- this book looks fun!

  31. I usually cut my own, but do enjoy precuts. Live in Mi. Love your quilted wall hanging.

  32. I have some precuts, but I usually cut my own unless I find a really nice collection. I live in northern CA, just north of the GG bridge. Thanks for sharing the giveaway!

  33. i usually cut my own, but have done some quilts with precuts. Thanks for the giveaway!

  34. That's an adorable version of Wendy's design. I love the colors you picked. I can't wait to share my quilt next week!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love your version of this cute quilt ~ and lucky you that you have such a wonderful friend. Quilty friends are the best! I tend not to use precuts very often. Thanks for the give away.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Love the colors you used for your quilt. And the free-motion quilting is stunning. What a wonderful friend to come help. Total #CreativeGoodness

While I do enjoy quilting with pre-cuts, I tend to work with yardage vs pre-cuts.

  37. cut my own - usually do custom patterns. Love the coffee wall hanging - superb choice of colors.

  38. I LOVE your fabric selection!!!!! And your quilt selection! The color purple, coffee, and batiks, it just doesn't get any better than that! I live in AK (that's Alaska, not Arkansas) and quilt most all of the year. As far as pre-cuts or yardage, it just doesn't make any difference to me! I've been known to make my own precuts when a pattern calls for one. But I also have a large box full of precuts just waiting to be sewn into beautiful projects! Thanks for sharing your quilt! And thanks for the give-away, good luck to everyone entering the contest!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I luv, luv, luv batik precuts! Aquas, greens, and purples. Yummy ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Precuts are okay and I have used them on several occasions, but it seems that most of the quilt patterns that I want to make are bettered suited to yardage. I don't mind cutting it myself. It's therapy. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Love your fabric choice! Wendy's books and machine quilting videos are fabulous! I usually cut my own fabric. I buy a lot of fat quarters and 1/2 yard cuts. I go for a scrappy look. I don't ordinarily use batics but these are so great I may have to jump on the bandwagon.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well i like both...I do cut my own ...Last christmas i bought batics all year and then cut them into fat quarter gifts..... ps i do love the coffee quilt too.... happyness04431@yahoo.com

  43. If fat quarters count as precuts, then I am a collector. I live in New York State. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  48. Love your version of all those pretty vups! I'll never tell how big my stash is! But the top I'm working on was made from 9 different charms paks of beautiful prints. Plus 7 charms of Moda cream solid! Total Fun!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I live in western NY near Rochester. I prefer to cut my own fabrics. I generally only like one or two fabrics in a pre-cut and the colors are too variable to be useful.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Because I often work 50-60 hours a week, I prefer to use the precut. Saves me a lot of time! eyreka1@ gmail.com

  51. I love your Espresso quilt and Island Batik fabrics are gorgeous. Your friend is a real treasure to help you finish this while you are healing. I don't know pre cuts so well but I definitely LOVE fabrics. Thank you for the opportunity to win this fun book. Bless you for hopping...

    ReplyDelete
  52. It depends on the pattern...I like precuts for some designs, but I also like to cut my own for some quilts. I live in Buffalo, TX. Thanks for this opportunity to win Wendy's book!

    ReplyDelete
  53. You must be from the mid-West. My husband used to refer to coffee as "cuppa". I live in eastern Washington. Precut vs stash: I usually use my batik stash, but I wanted more variety (like 250 pieces) last summer, so I did buy 5" charms. Your "cuppa" quilt looks more like my tea stash than my coffee stash. Either way, I'm lovin' it!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Love your version of "cuppa" Thanks for a chance to win Wendy's latest book.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I mostly cut my own fabric, but there are some fabric lines out there that I love each pattern so much I get a pre-cut to have some of it all.
Wendy's new book looks great, I would love it win it. Thanks for the chance!

  63. I love your quilt, turned out wonderful. I do hope your wrist heals and you are back to sewing soon.

  64. Lovely quilt! Precuts have been a great help to me. I have collected quite a few and enjoyed using them. In general, though, I prefer to cut my own fabric. I live in Southern California about an hour outside of Los Angeles. -- soparkaveataoldotcom

    ReplyDelete
  65. I use precuts if I have them, but I like to cut from yardage so I have 'extra' in case of an error.
(I am drinking my "cuppa" right now - and about to get a refill!)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Oh SOB SOB!!! I cannot enter the giveaway as I live in the UK. But I will comment anyway. I tend to cut my own fabric as I find precuts limiting. Having said that, my favourite fabric supplier gives a free pack of 5" squares when you spend a certain amount. It being a very easy amount to spend, I have amassed quite a collection of squares. These have been fantastic for all sorts of projects especially applique. I can always find that perfect little piece I need. My quilting friend all have their favourites and we regularly swap bits and bob. I just love fabric, any fabric!!

  67. I have some pre cuts, especially fat quarters but I generally like to cut my own.

  68. The fabrics that you chose are gorgeous and using them for this lovely quilt pattern was an excellent choice. It makes me think of all these new Cappuccino flavored coffees that everyone, including myself, have gotten hooked on. LOL. In all honesty, I have such a love for fabrics that both Pre-cuts have a special dresser storage and all of the pieces of materials that I cut have a special storage system. Thank you for sharing and have a fantastic creative day! brend_ack@yahoo.com

  77. I love the bundle you used for the espresso quilt; it really reminded me of coffee. I, too, love coffee though I've had to 'cut-back' some lately. A bit difficult but I've been doing it in baby steps. I find myself buying precuts because...Oh, aren't they just adorable?...I just love having pieces of the whole collection...What a bargain; I must get this! Only problem is that I'm not so good at using them. Wendy's book looks like a lifesaver for me. :)
