Creative Borders and Binding with Island Batik

October brings us, my favorite time of the year...
I just couldn't possibly not do some kind of Halloween project, for this challenge.
This speaks of me lately...
running around with my head cut off.
LOL!!!
Recently I've became acquainted with "Quilt Fusion",
who have such fun patterns from none other than
"Uncle Gravy".
Seriously, you've got to love a name like that!
They have the most incredible applique patterns...
check it out
You can sign up for their emails and get a free pattern every Friday.
What's to loose?

Now...it's a border challenge.
Your wondering about the borders aren't you?
I added a "faux" filmstrip border.
It seemed like the perfect way to show things off.
Icing on the cake, don't you agree?

These fabrics from "Island Batik" are labeled "bonus" fabrics.
Just a little something they added to our boxes.
I do get to play for the greatest company!
Batiks really make that "attention to detail" stand out.
I love the incredible way, they all play so well together.

As for a creative binding...
it's a plain black binding for me.
The filmstrip border is the star of this show.
LOL!!
Hope you've enjoyed my little "challenge" this month.
Tell me how you might use a filmstrip border yourself.
Who knows, there just might be something in it for you!
winky winky

Leave me a comment and we will just see!
til next time...
Keep on Stitchin'

  3. Awesomely creepy. Do you cut by hand or use a cutting machine for appliqué?

  4. That's awesome. I do like the border, too. I'll have to see if I can find a place for that.

  8. Wow, this is absolutely stunning. I think this is the best Halloween quilt I have ever laid my eyes on. Great choice of fabrics too. I'm going to check out Uncle Gravy's patterns. I think using a flim strip border on a table runner or table topper would look great too.

  10. Great quilt and I've signed up at Quilt Fusion. Today's owl pattern is quite nice. That border would be fun to use on my Rocky and Bullwinkle quilt, when I finally make it. Some of the fabric has film strips in it so this would be a nice addition.

  13. I just finished a quilt with cornerstones on 3 rows of sashing. The final row is 4". I can see where the film strips could have really added more interest to the quilt. Plus I get tired of doing the same thing, it would have been fun not to have to match up seams like I did. That is a great wall hanging.
