October 31...throwback Halloween

 Well, this is the day...

My favorite day of the year!

Today I am sharing the row by row that Carol designed for the "Cackling Stitches" facebook group last year.

I shared a lot of photos of my progress on the Facebook group page, but never on my blog.
The top has been done for awhile, but it's finally quilted.

Who knew a trampoline would be such a great place to hang a quilt for photos???? I have to admit, I am not a trampoline person. At my age, balance and a broken hip are first and foremost in my mind. LOL!!
The first step was tricky, but I survived.

Technology amazes me sometimes. It sure is fun to play with. I got a new Iphone with a clean up tool in the photos, that allows you to remove things you don't want in them. It's not perfect, but it's pretty cool to play with. I tried to remove the clothes pins holding the quilt up and it did actually take half of them off. You can still see part of them on the quilt itself, but the half that was in the sky is gone.
HAHAHAHA
That even sounds like an old fogie comment to me!

The colors are starting to turn here and my clothes pins are actually all gone, in this photo.
TEE HEE HEE
Have a hauntingly fabulous Halloween!
Trick or Treat...I get all the Tootsie Rolls!

Out of the Dark Blog Hop

Welcome to our "Out of the Dark" blog hop, where we bring you the best of the Halloween goodies that anyone could ever hope to trick or treat for. We have a great lineup of friends, ready to share their projects with you. So sit back and enjoy 4 days of fun.

_______________________________________________________

Twas the night before Halloween and all thru the house

Not a creature was stirring, except for the spouse.

Who was down in the sewing room, so no one would hear

the roar of an embroidery and a sewing machine kicking into gear...

Yep, that pretty much how how it's been around here lately, since I just couldn't decide on what project to share.

So, I have two for you!

First up is "Trick or Treat Smell My Feet" by Shabby Fabrics
It's been in my stash of to-do patterns and was a great reminder of why I love fusible applique.
These colorful little guys just make me smile. Who doesn't remember that saying? I am sure I tormented many with it! HAHAHA

"The Adventures of Ms Stitch" was a block of the week by "Sweet Pea Machine Embroidery".
It was a mystery quilt with a twist. The blocks come with designs to make it a normal sewing theme, or a Halloween theme or a Christmas theme. They also had add-on border blocks in many different themes you could choose to use. I went with the sewing theme.
There were so many fun photos posted on their facebook page, that I might just be making a Christmas one soon, too.
Check out the detail in the blocks...
I bet like me, you can identify with many of them.
LOL!!

They even offered an option for a dog instead of a cat.

There you have it...Halloween rocking my soul once again.

Please visit my fellow bloggers and see their creations.
Leave them a little love with a sweet comment, while you are there.
It means to world to us.

New BOM for 2024

It's that time of the year again, where we tempt you with next years "FREE" Block of the Month
over on our Cackling Stitches Facebook page.

We have put our heads together and come up with a fun new quilt that we are sure you will enjoy!
It all starts Jan 1 2024, but we know how much you like to start planning and collecting supplies.
What better time to grab some of those fabulous Halloween prints, we all love to collect.

Let's get to the story behind our 2024 quilt!

This quilt has a bit of a "no particular reason" twist to it, as well!

Remember those days gone by, when paper dolls were so poplar?

Well, get out your crafty side and let nostalgia take over, because this quilt doubles as a paper doll quilt.

The list of supplies you need for the quilt can be found HERE.
Don't start cutting anything just yet. We will provide more instructions with the patterns, starting in January.

As in past years, the blocks for the patterns are free for the month they are posted. Once that month is over, the block will go into our individual ETSY shops for purchase for a nominal fee. We do ask that you honor our copyright and do not share the pattern with others. You can always send them to our Facebook page where they can download their own pattern directly from us. We put a lot of time and effort into designing BOMs for you each year, and we want to keep the blocks free for all of you. With that being said, if you just can't wait for each month to roll around, the complete pattern will be available for purchase for $15, starting Jan 1.

After all this, I suppose you want to see the quilt we have designed. LOL!!
Without further ado...

She's bright, she's bold and she is "Bona Lisa" with all her glorious ugly sweaters and accessories. And of course the dusty ole barn!
The center is just asking for some interchangeable sweaters to keep her warm.
(You build them on a felt backing)
You can add a pocket to the back of the quilt if you choose, to store them in.

Want a fun interactive wall hanging?

Make a second set of the block sweaters, or let your imagination go wild.  There will be additional sweaters available, but they are top secret right now!
In fact, we want you to become designers too, and we will be watching to see what creepy sweet sweaters, you create. There may just be something in for you, if you do...but more on that later!
Start collecting up bits and pieces of ribbons, trims, old jewelry and anything you can imagine to dress up your Bona Lisa!

Monster Mash Sew-It Show-It Blog Hop

It's my day on the "Monster Mash" hop and while there are no monsters in my project, that doesn't mean that the ghouls and goblins didn't mess with me, as I was sewing it! I blame them, but it really was my fault. There were so many little pieces and they all were cut different sizes. I labeled them, but next time I would add the size of each piece on the label and attach the labels much better, as well.
Live and learn. LOL!!

This is my "Witches Night Out" quilt. The pattern is from "It's Sew Emma".
I precut it and took it on my quilt retreat last month. Whew...never have I ever drawn so many diagonal lines for one quilt before.

I stitched and I stitched...

and had so much fun, watching it come together...

My hotel room bed was a great design wall.

If you caught my earlier post, you saw just how convenient that bed was. Perfect height for sitting on to sew. Heck, I didn't even have to get out of bed all day if I didn't want to, especially since my roomie brought me coffee in the mornings!

I love this time of the year!

It was the perfect backdrop for a photo shoot and Sweet Pea had to get in on the action.

 Little Man approved, as well!

Although it was more like, get me out of this thing, so I can get down and drool on something new!

While on retreat, we were treated to an hour long Q&A with Jenny Doan, Misty and Natalie! Those girls sure know how to motivate a person. They were talking about their triple play "YouTube" videos. Having never seen one, I decided to search them out when we got back to our room. I was so inspired by one of them, that when I came home, I dumped out all my Halloween fabric stash, went right to work on my version.

This is from their rail fence video.
I borrowed the bat from another quilt pattern I had made 8 years ago, surprisingly enough it just came up on my Facebook memories the other day!

This is "Scaredy Bat" from Ribbon Candy Quilt Company.

There are so many fun things you can do with this rail fence tutorial. Check it out for yourself!

Make sure you visit my fellow bloggers today and see what "Monstrously" fun things they have been up to!

Which Way to Witchville BOM - August

Our last two rides and block has arrived.

It's hard to believe that we only had one more month left! Yep, you read that right. HAD! Carol has decided to give you all the finishing instructions a month early. I am pretty sure that is OK with all of you! LOL!! We are excited to see your quilts finished and now you for sure have enough time, before the big day in October arrives.

And on that note...we are working hard on next years BOM right now for you. I'm excited about it and I think you are going to LOVE it! Need a little hint? Think of something you likely played with as a child. That's it, my lips are sealed now. You can ponder on that until it starts!

Here are the last brooms for you.

Chester's Haunted Ride
You can download the pattern for free this month only
Belindas Beastly Broom
From Carol at "Just Let Me Quilt"
Carla's Pumpkin Palace
from Carla at "Creatin' in the Sticks

You can also find the download for these patterns on our Cackling Stitches Facebook group page
You will find it at the top of the page in the Featured Posts tab.

This BOM runs from Jan 1st through September 30th August 31. As with years past, on the first day of each month, we will release block patterns on our Facebook group page, that will be free for that calendar month. They will then go into our individual ETSY shops, where you can purchase them for $2 each block.  We have had emails and fielded many questions, so what is "new" this year, is that the entire pattern is now available in each of our ETSY shops for $15.  You no longer have to wait until it's over, to be able to purchase the pattern. It's also an option for those of "us" who just can't wait for the next months release. LOL!!

We hope you appreciate the time we put into creating this BOM and understand that we are keeping the costs to a minimum for you. We ask that you respect our copyrights and do not share this pattern.
