Quilt Album

Have you heard the news?  Quilt Album is now a free program for everyone to enjoy.  If you remember, a few years back, I was an ambassador for "Quilt Album". I personally love the program. It's a great way to not only document all your quilts, but keep important information with them. Pattern names, batting type, designer and quilter information. It even allows you to make greeting cards and post cards with your quilt photos.

So many choices for size and shapes.
Half fold...quarter fold...
Horizontal, or vertical.

And the back of the cards, show your info.
It even allows you to change ink colors!

You can print off Album pages for a scrapbook.

Business cards, labels and return address labels.
Even quilt labels!
Way cool huh?

Here is what the program looks like.
A great improvement, is the ability to associate 10 photos of your quilt.

And there is a summary page that catalogues all your quilts, to make finding them a snap.
:-)
Another big improvement is the ability to move things
between PC and MACS.
That's big!

As I mentioned before, this great program is now  FREE  for us all.  Yep, those Quilt Album folks realize how important it is for us all to document our quilts.  I loved the program when it was a paid program, so of course I am going to tell you its a must now that it's free.  They are asking for contributions to defray their costs. It is voluntary, but us quilters know the value of our work...Please support them in helping us!     You can download your very own program right HERE.

                                                ENJOY!

Eureka

You know when you have those moments! Today was one of them. I quilted this for a friend at work. After she came and picked it up, I had one of those ah-ha moments. I have the fabulous Quilt Album program that lets me keep all my quilting history in one place. You can keep your quilting in different category's,, which got me to thinking. I can use this program to keep all my customer quilts in too. I can keep measurements in it, and track costs for the quilting and many other things for my customers. Best yet it's got capabilities of making the photos into greeting cards. Like shown below.  So I am thinking, what a great way to give an invoice for my quilting. I, of course didn't have a plan in action for this quilt, but I sure will for future ones. The printing portion allows you to print a variety of information about the quilt. So in the future I will be finding out the name of who the quilt is for and an little history too. It would make the perfect gift card for the quilt when it's given as a gift. If it's not a gift, you would still have a wonderful greeting card to share with someone special. Now is that a great idea or what.

They can be printed in 2 sizes the one here is 5"x7"  and the ones below are about 4 1/2"x5 1/2". As you can see, you have the option of printing them either horizontally or vertically. How cool is that!

This shows you the history/story of the quilt on the back of the card. Now can it really get any better than that? :-) The program also allows for you to type in a message in the inside or just leave blank for a note card.
So for all my customers, I will be using these wonderful little cards with your orders from now on!!!  Oh happy days!

All this card business got me to thinking... If I can load a photo of a quilt and print it into a card, I can load in any photo and make it greeting card, which is just what I did for a special little girls birthday.  The program really doesn't care if it's a quilt photo or not, it worked beautifully with any photo. So when I need a card right away, I don't have to jump in the car and drive to the store to pay exorbitant prices for one anymore. It really is so much more fun to personalize one from home.

Heck, I'm not to proud to say, that I love my quilts, and sharing photos of them in the form of greeting cards, is quite fun for me. So I am stuck with this dilemma. Do I make mini quilts (which I love) for the cards, or do I do the cards for the mini quilts that I love????? hummm..... Maybe the answer is both!

I think I have my Halloween cards all planned out here!  :-)

Where oh were is that photo of the adorable Turkey I made for Thanksgiving last year. I know it's around here somewhere. Better find it before the cards need to go into the mail!
Check out Quilt Album for yourselves. These is a link at the top of my blog for a $5 discount if you find it's perfect for you too!

Quilt Album Update

Now that I have managed to log all my quilts into the program, I have been playing with some of the extras. Wow, does this program have some "great" extras. I love that I can tell a story about the quilt and print it on multiple pages. Some of our creations just "have" to have their stories told.

While writing about this quilt, I got to thinking. Would it not be just the greatest, if you had a photo of that special grandchild all wrapped up the quilt you created? You could then write the story and tell about the special moment that led to the quilt. It would give "someone" a very special memory of their favorite quilt or moment with Grandma or Grandpa.  Now you  have to understand I was in dream land, as I have no grand children!!!  OK boys, I ask you, am I ever going to??????  :-0

Anyway, this is just one of the little extras, this simple program has. I'm having a great time exploring and playing with all of them!

Quilt Album

I bragged about the wonderful new quilt documentation program that I bought awhile back. I am so thrilled with it, that I have decided to become a Quilt Album Ambassador. I have logged over 150 quilts into this great program already. It allows me to keep a record of my quilts and save a little history on them too. It's a great way to keep track of my swap quilts too. Those special treasures, a complete stranger pours their love into and mails away. I never want to forget where they have come from.  I sure so wish I had taken time to photograph all my quilts, but it's a live and learn world for us all. Starting with this great program here, will help you to never loose track of one of your creations again, and what better way to share our legacy's with future generations.

Once you have your quilts logged in, you can print out the pages if you like, on full or half sheets, printing as much or little of the documentation as you choose.

Also you can use the photos to make 2 sizes of greeting cards, business cards and even return address labels. Now how cool is that?  Please check it out here and be sure to enter BBR-UK for a $5 discount! You can also find a permanent link on my right side bar. Hop on over and give it a look. I think you'll find you love it!  :-)  :-)

No Sewin

After my marathon week working on the upholstery last week, I took some time away from my sewing room. This week instead, I have been collecting up my photos and putting information into my new quilting program.

For those who have not seen this program, I have to tell you, it's about as great as they come. Besides being very easy to use, I now have a place to track all my quilts and tell a bit of their stories. In the process, I found that I had lost some photos when my computer crashed a year ago. Thankfully I found some of them on backup disks. I was able to piece together many of the swap quilts and tell a bit about each one who sent them to me, too.
Besides the ability to collect all the info, you can print out pages, note cards, business cards and even return address labels. Now is that fun or what??  :-) It's a virtual library, and I love it.  For  $29.95 you can download a copy for yourself over at QuiltAlbum.com   Do yourself a favor and get your copy today. The information you save will be "your" heritage some day! Don't let it get away.

In the mean time, I found some quilts in the far reaches of the storage I guess, that I haven't shared with you. You know I can't let that happen!! LOL... So I blew off the dust and here you go

It's called Mountain States from the Travelin' America in Applique book by Ursula Michael
Pretty cool huh, and best yet, I have all that info stored in my Quilt Album program. Now you knew I was going to throw that in didn't you?
As of now I have 179 quilts logged into my new program. Can you imagine if I only would finish those PIGS (projects in grocery sacks)...  I could almost break a world record then!!!  :-) :-)
Maybe next week!! LOL
