Fun times headed your way!

I've been absent much of the time lately, but I have a good reason why...

As a first time Nana, I'm loving taking care of this little sweetheart. Watching her grow and develop is such a joy. Best yet, all she really wants to do most days, is snuggle with her Nana, and I'm happy to oblige.

There is lots of fun on the horizon for you all,
and I'm happy to play a little part, in all of it.

First off...Did you know that Carol Swift from "Just Let Me Quilt" and I
have a new Facebook group?
Calling all Halloween junkies...(cause you know the both of us are huge ones)

If the title doesn't say it all...

...then maybe this will!

This group is dedicated to the Halloween lovers in all of us.
It's a place to share all your Halloween delights.
You will find Wicked Wednesdays, a BOM set for next year,
AND
Starting Monday, Carol has a fun Stitch-A-Long planned.
It's happening during the month of September.
Sew... get on it, and join us
HERE
cause I know you won't want to miss out on the fun!

It's Row Along time, too!
Tuesday starts "It's a Garden Party Row Along"!
Marian from "Seams to be Sew" hosts fabulous row by row events yearly.
This promises to be another great time for all!
You can find the complete schedule
This will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept 8, til Oct 8
and on Oct 13, there will be a big Show and Tell Day.
I will see you with my row on Tuesday Sept 29th.
Winky Winky!

But wait, there's more!
The good times just keep going.

we can always plan ahead for better days.

This clear vinyl TSA size travel bag, is perfect for those liquids,
allowed in our carry on bags.
These use a medium to heavy weight transparent vinyl, sold in craft/hobby stores.
You can make them your own with "Crafter's Edge" Posey Basket die,

Here Fishy Fishy

How do you like your fish?
Fried, baked, cut out of hand dye fabrics???

These fun guys were easy to make with the new tumbler die from "Crafters Edge"

And  "SprayNBond®Basting Adhesive" from Thermoweb.

The "secret sauce" to these fish, are using various tones of the same colors.

Check out my tutorial over on the Thermoweb blog

I love "Crafters Edge" dies, because you can see exactly where you are placing them
on your fabrics before you cut.
You can use them in the Crossover II cutter and

...they work in the Accuquilt GO cutter as well.

With 5 different sizes included in the set, there are so many possibilities.

No matter if your enjoying it outdoors...

...or inside, there is fishy good fun to be had!

Words to Grow By...Blooper Edition

You know we all love to share our projects with each other.
And how we always put our best foot forward, when we do.
Well, it's not always sunshine and roses around here!
I was so excited to get my "Words to Grow" by BOM top pieced!
Uh-huh!
Sadly I even pinned the last row to make sure everything lined up.

Yep, that's how my day ended.
Maybe it was the wine...
OK, lots of wine...
It was quilt club day, what else can I say!

Lets back up a few hours.
I was working away trying to catch up on my blocks.
I bent over to get a piece of fabric, when Denali decided I was
a great climbing post!
Crazy cat! He had never done that before.
And he had no intentions of moving either.
We frequently fight over who's chair it is by the sewing machine...
but this was a first.
LOL!!!!
I'm happy to report that my trusty seam ripper didn't let me down,
and this baby is now pieced correctly!

SEW...
How is your BOM coming along?

One Fish Two Fish...You can sew it too Fish!

While the dog days of summer are rapidly coming to an end,
it's not to late to enjoy the pool or beach.

Having your own special towel is an added bonus.

This fun little goldfish complete with scales, is easy to do
 with with "Crafters Edge" dies.

as well as with Accuquilt GO cutter, with a conversion plate set,

Start by fusing a piece of  HeatNBond Fusible Interfacing on the back
of your main body piece.
(This gives it the stability it needs to stitch the scales on)
Fuse HeatNBond Lite Fusible Web to the back of the fabrics
for the fins, scales and eye.
Cut out all pieces.
Note:  fish is not fused to the background.
Start adding the scales from the back to the front, fusing then stitching
 each row as you go.
The back will look something like this when you done.

Spray the back on the fish, fins and tail. Arrange on towel,
tucking fins and tail under where needed

Stitch down, being careful not to catch the loops of the towel.

Keep your head about water in these crazy times!
