My turn to shake...Pom Pom Blog Hop

I  hear Barbara Streisand singing...

Memories light the corner of my mind
Misty water color memories
Of the way we were...

Yes, the way we were.  What happened to those days?????  You blink, and your a victim of the horrible joke that life plays on us all!   LOL!!

One day we are sporting the baby oil and taking in the rays...

Then next, things have moved downward (they tell me it's gravity or some fool thing) and a bottle of SPF 50, so you don't sunburn. Ohhhhhhh, it's a lovely sight isn't it?     :-)

I just couldn't help myself, but use Amy Bradley's "All about me" one more time for this hop. My evil quiltin sista, came up with the idea of a pom pom bikini, although now she completely denies it!! Hummm...   have I finally managed to horrify her too?  LOL!!

My reversible pillow tells it all. The sad story of my life!!
From the golden tan era to the cottage cheese thighs!

It just wouldn't be the same without pom poms!
LOL!
Do you suppose this is what Clover had in mind,
when they made the pom pom maker?

While I was on a pom pom kick, I decided to play with a little something else.

I love pin cushions...so the wheels started turning. I started with a wooden craft box from any hobby store. While I was working on the zillion pom poms it took to cover it, the memory of those tissue paper flowers,  started dancing in my head.  Those of us who grew up in the 60's and 70's remember em. They were great big ones on sticks.  Hummm... the pom pom would make a fabulous center to a flower, now wouldn't it.

My really big pin cushion, has it's very own big pom pom flower. Since it's about 8" square and 18" tall, I shouldn't manage to loose it in my sewing room. Won't that be a nice change, for once.
                                                       :-)

Let's have a give a way that reminds me of the spring, that hasn't managed to happen here yet!

Now this fun quilt, sure make me think of spring. If only Mother Nature would cooperate!

Leave me a comment and tell me if spring has sprung where you live.  On Monday April 30, the last day of our hop, I will pick a winner!

Spring is doing its best to enter our country, the netherlands, but it has a hard time doing so. Temperatures are going up and down, like shaking pom poms :>)
    Cheers!

  20. YOU MADE ME SPILL MY COFFEE!! I am still laughing and am going to send those pics to my 3 daughters so they know what to expect in years to come. That is the funniest (and most psycho) thing I've seen in a long time. Now I feel a little better about my own pom project that took on a life of its own and is downright crazy. But, hey, I'm in good company, right? Loved your pillows and I KNOW you will be on Madame Samm's hit list today for most creative.

    ReplyDelete

  65. I completely appreciate the pillow. I was having that exact conversation with DH yesterday as I was feeling all my joints hurting. Yes, Spring has sprung and is about to leave us. I was watching the dogwood petals drifting in the wind this morning and thinking that it's raining dogwood blossoms. (Love the ducky book.)

    ReplyDelete

Air Conditioning on half the day and heat the rest. I can't even say morning or evening, yesterday the AC came on about 9pm but we knew to have our blankets/quilts ready for the wee hours of the morning.

  80. OMG! I love your reversible pillow-so creative. Those tissue paper flowers-are they the same as the kleenex flowers we made of pastel colored kleenex as it was all the rage! Colored kleenex, now you can't purchase anything but white. Tissue paper is thinner and more translucent. I remember when "tennis shoes" came out and they were nothing but white, too! My sister loves ducks so that would be a perfect gift for her! From CA, thanks for sharing and jogging the memories!

  86. I'm afraid we have had spring long enough for Apple trees to bloom followed by cold wintry weather and back to spring again. Hope it's here to stay this time here in southwest Missouri. Thanks for the chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Oh my! I love what you've done with those pom poms! I'm not talking about that pincushion though I love it too. It's given me an idea for another pincushion. I don't need one but I enjoy making them. Here is Southern Cal our winter is much like spring in most parts of the country. We are moving out of the rainy season and lots of warm sunny days. We do have many mornings where the marine layer is thick so it stays overcast. We call it May Gray and June Gloom but it goes away quicker the farther you get from the coast. I'm hoping the rest of the country gets to enjoy some spring before summer arrives!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Spring has Sprung. Thanks for the laughs with your pom poms. I agree it is a dirty trick to play on us. I'm still trying to figure out when it happened....giggle. I know I was just 19!!!!............now 66 and twice my size :( :( :)...it's all good.

  103. Spring sprang and then it snowed. We're on our 3rd cycle of warm and cold, this morning it was 30, Sunday it was 54 in the AM. But this is very normal, we're all hoping the fruit blossoms will survive. Last year we had peaches and pears but no apples. So far it looks like we may even have cherries. But I got my long pants and turtlenecks out again cause I am cold. Loved your pillows. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  104. You made me laugh out loud and sit here by myself. Love the bikini!! So true..We don't really have spring here in Az. It just goes from winter to summer overnight. I miss all the flowers. Thank you for sharing..

  110. It is the end of my day and your projects have really tickled me! I have a huge smile on my face and I am thinking your projects made you smile the whole time you worked on them. I remember those paper flower making parties in high school. Each class had to build a float (Lord, I cannot remember why, maybe spirit week). One year I hosted one of those flower making parties at my house. Lots of fun memories.
Spring has come (and gone) in Phoenix. It is getting hot.

    ReplyDelete

  115. The little flowers are blooming but it is cold still! I love your ladies it gave me such a laugh, that is so me too! Part of life I suppose. I make lots of baby quilts so I can always use cute patterns and this one is really cute!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I could hear Babs singing as I was reading ... memories of the way we were
My scales don't go that low - the numbers aren't there Now, that reminds me of how low can you go.
I have laughed and laughed and laughed. My second husband told me that his first wife apparently resembled the "elderly" lady when she was 18. Apparently the gravity had already attacked her or that was his impression. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. (When I wrote that I first wrote stinking - Freud!)
I adore pin cushions. I've been collecting pincushion patterns with the idea of making some pincushions for the boutique at our guild's next quilt show which is in June 2014. T think I'd better get started instead of collecting.
Thank you very much for 1) collaborating with your sister with the creativity; 2) taking those ideas and creating a project; 3) making everyone LAUGH 4) creating an inspiring, fun, and useful pincushion; 5) sharing with the rest of us; 6) just being you; and 7) having a generous giveawy. Many, many, thanks!

  117. You really do have a wild and wicked sense of humour!! And yes, you are correct. Can't believe what has happened over the years! Love the pom poms and their placement. Your cushion is perfect.
And your pin cushion is lots of fun too. How many pomp poms did you have to make and how much yarn did you use. Wow!
Always love seeing what mischief you come up with on these hops!

  123. LOL, your cushion is hilarious! The pincushion is fun and I'm sure you won't lose this one. Thanks for the laughs! Spring seems to be late here. We had too many below seasonal temperatures in April. Things are looking up now though. I should be able to go out in shorts and sandals tomorrow afternoon. I better make sure my legs and toes are ready for that!
