Great dad's deserve great quilts.
Quilts with photos.
Hubby has always been a great dad, and having the boys help plan out his birthday surprise was so much fun.
Those were the days!
This is Fabri-Scrapping, from Sew Artfully Yours.
Finding embroidery designs and buttons, to compliment each one.
This was a 2006 finish, and I have to say, that quilt has been on the back of our couch ever since. The photos are as clear today as they were back then. Not too bad for so many years, huh? Although I must say the newer printer fabrics to give you much crisper photos now.
I used a variety of printer fabric in this quilt.
This was a newspaper ad.
Hummm.... we don't hear about news papers much anymore!
I didn't know much about quilting when this was done. It's kind of fun to go back and see where you have come from.
And dream about where you've been in your life!
Memories, that's what its all about.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane! This is one fun quilt, and what a keep sake. You and your sons did a great job making a gift from these photos.ReplyDelete
Do you use it or is it just for show? Guess what I am really asking is, would the photos stand up to much wear and tear?? This would be a neat gift for a graduation present, if you had pics going from childhood to where they were when school was finished, or high school at least. See!!! Now you have my brain thinking of how I could do one of these! Have great weekend!!
And go make some more memories for your next quilt!!! ;-)
Wow this is an absolute treasure. Iv'e done memory quilts but nothing close to this level. Wonderful.ReplyDelete
That's a great quilt, Joan. Nice, clear photos and themes. Thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
Awesome memory quilt! When I got to the car photos, I had to show my hubby. We still have our 69 Shelby gt500. Same color as your's I think but white stripes. Hubby says when are you making me a quilt? LOLReplyDelete
What a great quilt and absolutely perfect for such a perfect dad!!ReplyDelete
It is a great memory quilt of the family. I like the way your gave it depth and action. Especially with it being your first one. I would like to see one you would make now, I'm seeing two sons, I guess that means that I will get to see another one.ReplyDelete
