It's my Day on the Gremlins Goblins and Ghouls Oh My! Blog Hop

It's my day and I'm so happy to share my Halloween delights with you.

First off, I have to share my newest acquisition!
Is this just not the cutest pin cushion?
When my Facebook friend Bobbie, posted that she had made these,
I just had to have one.
The detail is just amazing, photos don't do it justice. I think it's going to have to be one, that is left out year round! She has a Facebook group...
She is quite the quilter/crafter extraordinaire!

This is "Autumn Acres" by J. Wecker Frisch.

There's a story behind it too...
Last year I went to Las Vegas and took a class at a shop that Carol Swift was teaching. This quilt was hanging in the shop and I went bonkers over it. Carol actually talked me out of buying the kit, because we all had sooooo many Halloween projects already. I'm really not usually dis-waded so easily.
I just couldn't stop thinking about it when I got home and gave her grief all the time for it. LOL!!
We met up again in Utah for the "Garden of Quilts" show and somehow, someone snuck a fat quarter stack of the Riley Blake "Old Maid" fabrics for this quilt in my bag of things to take home. Just who could that have been Carol?????

I just love this line of sewing theme, Halloween fabrics.

I tried out a new quilt pantograph as well on this guy.

It's "Petite Feathers" from Urban Elementz. There is something about those feathers in the background that give it a creepy Halloween feel!

Next up...
"Belinda's Brownstone"

My friend Ruth gave me these fabrics, just because she knows how much I love "Alexander Henry" fabrics. There is a free tutorial on making these shadow blocks, online at MaDan's Quilting, you can find HERE.
It's so easy but I had the hardest time cutting into these girls. LOL!!
The ghastly green is also an "Alexander Henry" fabric. It just rang my Halloween heart and I had to go back and get more before it was gone.

I've never really been able to walk into a quilt shop, without finding something I can't live without, and of course that trip was no different. The clock was a ticking for this hop, but...

...I saw this bench pillow pattern and it was game over.
This is the "Boo Crew" designed by JoAnn Hoffman.

OH, those sweet little Gnomes faces.
These are all my additions for Halloween 2022.

Wishing you all a very...not so scary Halloween!

Make sure you visit my fellow BOO-loggers today. They are waiting for you!

A note from Wendy at "Pieceful Thoughts"... her blog server has been having issues lately. It's up and down. Tech support is working on it, but if you are not able to access her blog, please check back later.

Just a note on my pumpkin...Have you ever heard of a "Wolf Pumpkin"? I sure never had, but I googled it when I got home, and sure enough. I picked mine up at the pumpkin patch I took little Missy to. It's a whopping 27 pounds and the stem is 11" in diameter. I think I am going to try my hand at growing these big boys next year!

Thought for the day...

til next time...
Keep on Stitchin'

  5. What great projects, but then we expect that from you:) That first quilt-I can see why your mind kept thinking of it, I'm so glad you were finally able to nail that one down! Thank you for a great hop!

  6. Joan, as usual your projects are great!!! When I saw that pincushion, at first I thought you made one like Bobbie's pincushions. So glad you bought a pincushion from Bobbie. Everything Bobbie makes is perfection!!! From her appliqué, piecing, fabric crafts and woodworking. I have known her for a very long time and we used to get together in her appliqué group once a month with a few other ladies. But Covid happened and we haven't seen each other since. I really miss our sewing time together. Hopefully one day we can meet up again and sew. That Carol is sneaky (in a very good way) putting that fabric in your bag and what a wonderful quilt you created with it! I love it! I wish I had a larger house for decorating at the various holidays, but I don't, so I really love seeing other people's decorations. I might have to start stapling my quilts on the ceiling since I have run out of wall space, lol!!!!!!!

  11. So many fun things! That pin cushion is perfect and I bet it does get to hang around all year long. I also love that Carole stuffed that bit of fabric into you bag....so sweet...and the quilt is awesome. I, too, love Alexander Henry and the shadow box is a perfect way to display those quilts. WOW, that wolf pumpkin is quite something....you need a village to harvest and move them about.

  12. That Carol lady should have just let you buy it in the first place. I hope she learned her lesson! LOL You were a Halloween rock star with all the sewing you did. Wow! I love that quilt and will hopefully get some time to work on it. The quilting looks beautiful...wish I could do that. Maybe someone will come help me someday. Sigh/hint. The pincushion is sooo wicked looking, your shadow box quilt is amazing, and your "Boo Crew" is the final goo on a cake...love it!

  13. Wow, Joan!! All your projects are awesome. You have been busy, busy, busy on all of these. I love the bench pillow and those sweet gnomes...very cute!! And I do love that sewing themed Halloween fabric too. Oh my, the pumpkin is huge!! What a stem. I don't think I've ever seen one of those. Most of the ones in our pumpkin patches are the smaller ones with smaller stems, though there are large pumpkins, but none like that!! Thanks for sharing all the info! The pincushion at the top is sew very cute.

  15. Both your quilts are fang-tastic! Autumn Acres is gorgeous, but I especially love the creepy little girls! What a great fabric! They could give me nightmares. Your creativity never ceases to amaze me! That pumpkin is HUGE! I'm sure if I tried to grow one, it would be the size of an acorn. My thumbs are green because I'm rotten to the core, not for my gardening skills.

  17. Your home must look amazing for Halloween!! Every year you add so many new projects.
You are right about the pin cushion. That is wonderful. A very special piece.
I am pleased you finally got to make that quilt with just the right fabrics from Carol.
Of course the Ghastlies are great but I especially like that bench pillow. Love the background fabric.

  19. I love this quilt! The fabrics are beautiful in it too. So glad the fabric crawled into your bag! The pincushion is adorable too.

  20. Joan, thank you for the compliment, but you are the quilter extraordinaire. Your quilts always amaze me, you do such beautiful work on each one. I think you run on energizer batteries, you make quilts faster than I can pick fabric for one. I am glad that you are happy with your pincushion and hope you enjoy it for many years to come, mine will also be staying out all year.

  21. Well, goodness, I can see why you were crazy about that quilt - I love it! Quilting friends are the best, especially when they help us shop, right?! I stopped in a quilt shop on our way home and there was a very cute 3D Santa I really wanted. They had it on display, but no pattern, no kit - so I asked. They couldn't tell me anything about it - not the kit name or the designer, and they had no patterns or kits??? They thought the designer might be from MN (where I'm from) - I'm still hunting, hoping I will find it.
