It's My Day "Rose Colored Glasses" Blog Hop

This month Carol challenged us with a theme of "Rose Colored Glasses".

It's been a long time, but this "Moose-kateer" is back and sporting her beautiful

 "Rose Colored Glasses"

This challenge stumped me a bit, but when cleaning up some of my fabric mess once again, I stumbled on a piece of snow dyed fabric that I have been hanging onto for way too long. I love my hand dyes and crazy as it sounds, cutting into them is hard. I keep them because they are pretty, which makes it pretty silly to even bother dying fabric, if I'm not going to use it.

Snow dying frequently ends up with "Monet" looking results, so flowers just seemed to be a must.

Without further ado, let me introduce

"Mavis the Moose"

This is a combination of a floral design from the book "Flower Show Quilts", and a rubber stamp from "Whipper Snapper Designs". It's so much fun to sit down and play with combining things.
The border fabric is also a hand dye fabric and I worked out all the the math for my quilting, to make a nice frame effect...All was well, until I had a senior moment, and cut off all that math I had done, when trimming it all up.
Let's just say, Mavis had to plug her ears!
But that is a secret between you, me and Mavis!

A big thanks to Carol for hosting this months challenge and to all of you for visiting with us here in the MooseStash, today.

Say What? Sew-it Show- It Challenge Blog Hop

You know how us blogging quilters are!
We always have something to say.
It just seemed like the perfect theme for this months Challenge.

I love saving photos and ideas that come across my computer, that inspire me.
Many will never actually be turned into anything, but it's fun to dream!
LOL!!
A Little Spark of Kindness!
This was inspired by an image I saved, but  unfortunately I didn't note where I found it online, so I can't give credit, where credit is due.
I broke into some of my snow dyed fabric for the background on this one.
It's been a long time since I have dyed fabrics, but Dharma Trading Company has hooked me again with their new Ice dying powders. I hope to get on those very soon!

Wordy, whimsical, silly quilts always make me laugh and sometimes tell a story, about the times we are living in.  So, on this next one...
I believe I have found the reason our egg prices have been so crazy recently.

Explains a lot, now doesn't it?
This inspiration came from 2 different "Whipper Snapper" rubber stamps.
If you have never seen their website, you need to check it out.
They have the cutest designs. I linked their page for you, above.

I actually had a more serious "Say What" moment this year.
I started the Bonnie Hunter Mystery (as I always do), but this time I not only kept up with it, but I completed it. It's not sitting in a grocery sack or in a project pile.
Happy Dance!
This is "Chilhowie"

Now hop on over and visit my fellow bloggers, and check out what they have to say!

Little Green Apples Sew It - Show It Challenge

Let face it, when we think about apples, I bet 90% of us think about those big juice red apples.
But I'm here to tell you "Green" is "Queen"
This little 19" x 24" mini is "Apples" from "Angie Padilla Quilt Patterns"

Maybe it's the pie!
I do love a good apple pie!
Granny Smith apples are my go to for pie making.
We have used the same recipe for years, in my family. As you can see it was from the Parade magazine in the Sunday paper way back in 1979.
Call it the "sky high" or just downright delicious, but it's still our favorite recipe today.
I've long given up on making pie crusts, though, with Pillsbury making pre-made crusts you just unroll, why would I even try!
LOL!!
I'm so crazy over little green apples and baking, that I even made potholders for the occasion! And I am giving them away to 2 different people, just to say thanks for visiting.
Postage is crazy, so you must live in the USA.
To enter the drawing, leave me a sweet little green apple comment and sign up on Rafflecopter.  I will pick 2 different winners on Monday March 27. That gives everyone the weekend, to catch up on blog reading.
My little public service announcement!
I recently read on a Facebook group about using these silicone face and body scrubbers to clean your rotary cutting mats.
Honestly, I didn't even know they made silicone face and body scrubbers, but I had to find them and try them out!
Cutting the Insul-Bright batting for the potholders, left a big mess on my mat.
What better time to give it a try...
Voila!, it really did work well. Who knew?
Now I need to continue on with the rest of the mat.
My mats are a mess and in dire need of replacing. Many of the lines have been worn off.  I know I really need to get on that, but for now these little scrubbers will help keep it lint free anyway.
Amazon carries them, but Wal-Mart in the makeup aisle, was the best deal I found.
How do you like them apples?

A big thanks to Carol from "Just Let Me Quilt" for hosting this delightful challenge. Now hop on over to my fellow bloggers sharing their "green apples" with us today!

Next month's challenge is...
If you would like to play along, drop me an email.

May's challenge is...
Let Carol know if  you want to play along.

I'm Kinda "Sweet on You" Challenge/Blog Hop

Welcome to day 1 of our "Sweet on You" challenge.  I love seeing just what my fellow bloggers have done to meet the challenge each month. As for me...

My "Sweet" project is really all about sweets! My favorite treat.

Are you a gummy worm lover, or dots, (my favorite) conversation hearts, taffy and those gross wax bottles of some kind of sweet liquid, or licorice? I remember sucking those dots off the paper as a kid. What's better than a soggy paper right?
My shelf of treats was make with "Crafter's Edge" "Nestled Jar" die's.
I think this is one of the greatest new dies they have released. I see all kinds of things to put up on shelves in these jars! Sewing supplies, fruits and veges, oh and don't get me started on all the Halloween things that can go in them, too!
But lets get serious about treats here...
There is nothing that speaks to me more than "CHOCOLATE" and these little proverbs just say it all!
That lower right one is likely what my friends will tell you, reminds them most about me.
All that chocolate and those proverbs worked their way into my
"Heavenly Chocolate Bliss" quilt.
This fun pattern is from Angie Oswald at "Quilting Melodies".
Many years ago I stumbled on the pattern at HMQS in Salt Lake City.
They had a special display of these chocolate quilts and all were so different!
After seeing that exhibit, I knew that I had to have the pattern.
You may remember seeing my pink version on my blog, back in 2011.
You can read more on it HERE
It was so much fun to make, that my friend and I taught a class in 2012, at our local sewing shop.
Check out the quilts from class HERE
Blinging it up a bit, was fun using a lame fabric.
It's kind of a bugger to stitch, but well worth the trouble.
After all, it makes those Hershey bars and kisses almost look real!
If you need one of these "Heavenly Chocolate Bliss" quilts in your life, you can find the pattern
A big thanks to all of you for stopping by and checking out my treats.
Be sure to stop in and see what "Sweet" things my fellow bloggers have to share today!
