Twas the night before Halloween and all thru the house

Not a creature was stirring, except for the spouse.

Who was down in the sewing room, so no one would hear

the roar of an embroidery and a sewing machine kicking into gear...

Yep, that pretty much how how it's been around here lately, since I just couldn't decide on what project to share. 

So, I have two for you!

First up is "Trick or Treat Smell My Feet" by Shabby Fabrics

It's been in my stash of to-do patterns and was a great reminder of why I love fusible applique.

These colorful little guys just make me smile. Who doesn't remember that saying? I am sure I tormented many with it! HAHAHA

 "The Adventures of Ms Stitch" was a block of the week by "Sweet Pea Machine Embroidery".

It was a mystery quilt with a twist. The blocks come with designs to make it a normal sewing theme, or a Halloween theme or a Christmas theme. They also had add-on border blocks in many different themes you could choose to use. I went with the sewing theme. 

There were so many fun photos posted on their facebook page, that I might just be making a Christmas one soon, too.

I bet like me, you can identify with many of them.

LOL!!

They even offered an option for a dog instead of a cat.

There you have it...Halloween rocking my soul once again.

Turkey Trot Blog Hop

 

Welcome to the "Turkey Trot" blog hop. 

It's that time of the year, when we are thankful for all the things life has given us, and the people who are in it. 

Turkey has come to represent the Thanksgiving season, but this year there is no turkey in sight. LOL!!

No, this year I went went through the books on my shelf and picked one that had been collecting dust for a few years! 

This is my version of "Pumpkin Hill" a pattern by Anne Sutton.

I love with the whimsical folk art designs and the fact that is was perfect for some stash busting.

It's always a win, when I don't have to buy fabric for a project. 

We had a very cold and frosty morning, one day last week. 

It was calling me to go out and take some photos.

The sun was just coming out and these poor little guys were freezing

 their tails off.  LOL!!

I loved how the light danced on it. Kind of a reminder that even in the coldest of times, the sun warms the heart of the home!

It seems so appropriate, with Thanksgiving coming up next week.

I am lucky enough, to not have to do the cooking this year. It's fun to hand the baton to the next generation...and maybe not have to do the dishes!

Just when you think you can turn off your oven...

Carol jumps in and hosts her annual "Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange".

We have 27 bloggers who have been busy getting ready, just for you!

I can hardly wait!

And in January Carol hosts the "White Rabbit" hop.

Challenge: On the first day of each month, there is a tradition for people to say "white rabbit" first thing in the morning. The phrase is supposed to bring good luck for the rest of the month. Even President Roosevelt did this!  Make something with white fabrics, rabbits or white rabbits. What is a tradition you follow?

It's a Dogs Life Challenge

This months challenge is all about the dogs for me.

With 2 little ones around all week, I have become an aficionado, when it comes to cartoons. There are plenty of them featuring dogs, but "Bluey" is my little ones favorite and I have do say, it's mine too. If you don't know about "Bluey" it's an Australian cartoon about a blue healer family. The story lines all revolve around parents playing with kids. It's really a heart warming show that I love watching as much as my little's do. When Carol announced this theme, I went right to the internet in search of Bluey clipart and was all ready to start on an applique quilt, BUT...then I saw these embroidery designs at Applique Designz and it was game over!

I have not been in love with my embroidery machine for a very long time. Most days it works my last nerve, in fact I even put it up on Facebook marketplace and tried to unload it! Unfortunately or as it turns out fortunately, I wasn't able to. These designs were just so darn cute that I decided to give them a try and was pleasantly surprised. Was it the digitizing or was it the threat of me selling it off?

Whatever it was, my machine behaved beautifully for a change.

Yes, I thanked my lucky stars. LOL!!

I embroidered and quilted each block separately and put them together, with the QAYG method.

The 2 stars of the show, are Bluey and Bingo.

What all lead up to this, was a challenge a few months ago where I was captivated with this You Tube video, one of our fellow bloggers shared...

It's been on my radar ever since and actually how I found the embroidery designs

Someone is going to have to grow into his...

But it's safe to say this little girl loves hers!

Call me Crazy Challenge Blog Hop

Go ahead and say it, I really think I am crazy most days!

Most of you know, I'm a scrap-a-holic!

I can't bear to throw them away. I know there's a quilt in there somewhere, so into a tote, box or bag they go.

This was my batik bin, which was overflowing, so it was time to find a good scrappy pattern to work on. Bells went off in my head...

Last year Toni over at "Red Boot Quilt Company" hosted  a year long free BOM that I fell in love with. Lots of fun little blocks that were a the perfect scrap buster. 

All 121 blocks worth, not including the border blocks. That was another 98 blocks!

This is "My Favorite Things"

It's a biggie. My son and his wife are my "quilt holders" and they are both 6' tall and barely tall enough to hold it up. LOL!! 

In usual fashion, Sweet Pea claimed it as hers as soon as she saw it.

It is a fun giant "eye spy" kind of quilt for the little ones.

So, did it make me crazy to stitch?

Nope, it was crazy fun to scrap bust my way thru that tote of batiks, as well as my wall of fabric.

 I am not even going to lie to you. This was taken when my room was cleaned up, and it does NOT look that way 99.9% of the time. 

Crazy as it sounds, this big quilt, didn't even seem to make much of a dent in that wall of fabric either.

As for Red Boot Quilt Company... they have the cutest and "Happy Quilts" that I have ever seen.  Toni usually hosts a year long "free" BOM, but she has been suffering from long haul Covid for a quite some time, so she did not have one this year. She has started reworking this giant and making it into 2 quilts.

"Love and Hope" and "Dreams and Wishes"

They will be available on her website as soon as she gets them finished up. NOTE:she posted on Facebook that she will have one of them up on her free page this week sometime.
