Best of 2020 Linky Party

Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs holds a best of Linky Party, that I just can't wait for every year. It's always fun to look back at everyone's best and even catch a few things I may have missed throughout the year. This year is even more special, because for so many it hasn't been the best year and these little feel good moments can help keep us all sane and grounded.

So here are my 5 top "Bests" for 2020.

"Gnome in my Garden"
For "It's a Garden Party Row Along" hosted by Marian at "Seams to Be Sew".
Getting out in our gardens was the perfect way to pass time this year.
Marian couldn't have picked a better theme for this years row along!

"Bringing new life to an old quilt"
One of my favorite projects this year.
Taking my oldest boys rag-tag quilt apart and re-working it into a new quilt for our first grandbaby, was truly a labor of love. This 38 year old quilt has a brand new life again.
And this "Nana" has the little girl she always dreamed of. LOL!

"Race Car Dreams"
The story and the quilts supporting it all.
Daddy's old quilt and a brand new one for his little girl.
As well as poem that told the story.
"Spoiler Alert"...check back on Wednesday for an update on that poem.
I have met the best online friends in the world, and I'm excited to share, on the
"2021 My Stitching Resolution" blog hop post.

"Winter Blues Buster"
The winter blues blog hop hosted by Carla at "Creatin in the Sticks" was the perfect way to drive away a gloomy day. This fun Dresden fan, all glitzed up with crystals.

"Jolly Old Santa"
Carol from "Just Let me Quilt" hosted a Christmas in July hop. It was just the push I needed to work on a pattern that's been in my pile for way to long.
I finally broke out my pencils and learned how to paint a face.

While this year will go down as one of those years, for many...
...this sweet little elf made it all worthwhile for us!

Regardless, 2020 can go.
I'm sharing this pattern, with anyone who agrees with me!
So lets put on our smiles...
and just "Let it go"

Come on 2021...

You can stop in and see everyone "Best of 2020"
and show us your best of too!

Ringing out the old and in the new...

I'm sure your as ready to get rid of 2020. I know I am.

I would love to say I'm really over this year and its drama, but it did bring our first grand baby,

and we all just recovered from the Covid scourge, which luckily the baby didn't get from us. So I can't really say it was a horrible year, for us anyway, but my heart breaks for those who were not so lucky.

But I am looking onward and upward to a new year, hopefully one where we can return to our lives as we knew them a year ago. I'm sure you feel the need for a big ole hug from a friend too.

Not to mention I want my quilt retreats and shows back.

Helping us get back to some kind of normal are 2 fabulous ladies, I'm sure you all know.

Carla from "Creatin' in the Sticks" is hosting a NON-SEWING 1 day hop

Just share your Stitching Resolution for next year.

What a great way to inspire each other and help us all start getting a plan together.

It's a great time to share our secret holiday projects with each other too.

Winky Winky!

Carol from "Just Let Me Quilt" is hosting

In January you can show off your Hearts on Fire with this hop.
No red hearts...that's the only rule.
Let's just see what fun things we can inspire each other with, in this hop.
My thinking cap is on for sure.

My year got even better, when I received a box in the mail the other day.
Just look at this beauty!
A "Oliso" mini steam iron. Complete with its own matching silicone pad.
Whoop Whoop. I'm so excited.

Best yet, these little guys are on sale and have free shipping right now.
What better time to spoil yourself for the holidays.
Check it out on the Oliso website

Have you tried to buy a new iron recently. It's crazy. Apparently Covid has had an effect on their availability too. I don't think it was like the toilet paper hording that went on, but the end result was just about the same. LOL!!!  Thankfully the brand new Oliso TG1600 irons will ship in January, and you get a $20 gift card for a friend too. I'm so excited...that I just can't hide it.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Playful Penguins visit the Virtual Cookie Exchange Blog Hop

We have made it to December in this crazy year.
I think that calls for a celebration for sure, and I can't think of a better way than making cookies...
Lots and lots of cookies. Calories be darned. We all deserve a break after all the drama, this year held.
I've got a recipe that will make many many cookies and all kinds too...but
before I share it with you, I want to show you my Christmas quilt for 2020.
Penguin Parade.
These bright and cheery little guys are easy to do with the "Crafters Edge" Playful Penguin die,
The face and tummy is one piece, but I wanted my penguins to celebrate the season with my holiday prints. So with a little magic, and creative cutting, we have Christmas penguins.
Simply layer a face and a tummy piece and run through your cutter.
The scarf hides it all. How fun is that!
Are you terrified of mitered corners? Well check out this Missouri Star tutorial
I promise, you will never be scared again.
This "waddle" of penguins even got out to play, in our 8" of snow.
Ahhhhh...penguin paradise!

Now for my cookies...

I love this "Can Do" recipe, because the basic dough, gives you 7 different cookies.
Peanut butter is my favorite, but hubby loves the cinnamon balls and pecan refrigerator cookies.

This is what all the different varieties look like. Yes, that's 4 batches of dough.
Let just say, my Christmas baking is done for this year!
LOL!!

You can choose to right click on each page and save, or download the recipe,
minus the fancy holiday designs
Choices choices
LOL!!
A big round of applause to our fearless cookie monster...Carol.
It just wouldn't be Christmas if she wasn't tempting us with those delightful cookies!
Thank you Miss Carol... from the bottom of my hips and thighs!
Make sure you visit my blogging buddies. They all have delicious morsels to share, as well.

It's Thanksgiving weekend...
There are shards on my cutting mat...
That must mean it's Quiltville's Mystery BOM time again!
Yes, while some people pair socks, others pair their wine, heck you even have to pair your bluetooth devices...
But me, I spent my time this weekend pairing my "Sensuous Grays and Honeycomb fabrics.

It's Bonnie Hunter's "Grassy Creek" Mystery time.
These are the colors she is using this year.
I personally like to stick to her plan. It's much less stress on my brain, and she has really forced me out of my box and into working with colors I would never have dreamed of!

Check it out, over on her Quiltville blog HERE.
Everything you need to know is under the Grassy Creek tab at the top.

What's under the needle in your sewing world this weekend?

With Thanksgiving upon us, we turn our thought to "Turkey" of course.
This little mugrug will bring a smile to those of all ages.
You can find the free pattern on the Thermoweb blog

Save some room after your dinner tomorrow, because Carol's "Virtual Cookie Exchange" blog hop starts next Tuesday. There is a great lineup of bloggers just waiting to share their favorite holiday recipes and project with you!

I am feeling the need to find my super stretchy sweatpants for this one, already!

Wishing you a very safe and blessed Thanksgiving.
